metro in tokyo is cheap, but train tickets to other cities are ridoculously expensive
food is a bit cheaper than in western europe, accommodation is also cheaper because the yen is weak right now
i recommend the japan general on /trv/ they've helped me a lot when it comes to estimating costs etc
