English is a Frankenstein language, it does not decent direct from Germanic languages neither from Romance languages, but was made up from element of both, that can me noticed by different word meaning the same thing, or a slight or things from the same origin but with some different characteristic, like pig and pork. PT-PT, yes cause Portugal have a "closed" pronunciation for vowels and that makes it sound Slavic, but it has none of it.
