5 lanes seems excessive, in my experience the more lanes a highway has the worse people drives.
They should replace the inner 2 lanes with a train line.

I live in Santiago and yeah there's traffic, but if you have to endure that to get to where you need to be in the morning you clearly didn't make the right desitions, I walk or use the scooters

I don't think so. Outside Lima, traffic isn't that much of a big deal. I guess that other big cities such as Arequipa also have this problem though I am sure that it is nowhere near Lima's level.
Aside from the constant risk of being robbed inside your car while being stuck, traffic can be quite fun.
