In an essence US is a typical barbaric state of the time - all they do is rob other countries and hoards wealth to their own homeland. Really like barbaric tribes of old raided for gold and loot, the US "raiding" for resources and any type of capital. Rome was different - they brought order and law to the conquered lands, they build aqueducts roads and other things, they promote culture to the tribes they conquered. Almost all European states took something from them.
