China has never really had a strong martial culture and soldiering did not carry much place of prestige in a society where Confucian mandarins were uber alles. Confucian ideals held that if war happened, the ruler clearly failed to preserve a harmonious society.

Their tactics were limited to ground skirmishes

That's what a foreign country forcing opium into your people does to your country.

such is life when your cunt is made up of illiterate peasants

that was the result of them sucking at war tho
btw now that they have nuclear missiles with global range that's no longer true

Opium was forced into china by british smuggling rackets. When the chinks defended themselves, the brits did what they do best and fucked them over even more, demanding silver so they could buy more of their ports after winning the war

>China shoots it's 250 nukes at America
>200 are shot down and the rest hit mostly California
>we respond with 9000 nukes, turning China into glass

Honestly, it's a win-win for us, no more California

That's assuming most of the ones that do hit California even detonate, which since they're Chinese we're looking at about 60% duds.

who gave them the plan for nuclear missile?

ok it is the soviets

Doesn't California have a big percentage of American gdp

most of that money stays within california anyway so it's kinda moot

It wasn't always that case,
china was one of the largest economies before the 18th century and had quite a strong military presence in the past which is why they were able to defend korea against the japs when they invaded the first time around. And they were able to exert their own influence across a large chunk of Indochina and influence Indonesian politics many years. Its just the Qing got really lazy after they defeated the Ming and completely let go in terms of modernization. Which is why when the European powers tried to pry China open, they did it with relative ease, it was the equivalent of the modern US marines going up against a bunch of drugged up cavemen with clubs. And after the first opium war it was just a continuous downward spiral with more of china sold off to foreign interests at the expense of the state being ale to act independently. So for nearly a century they simply sucked massive dick at war and got worse. It wasn't until after the communists took over the mainland and truly established an autonomous state that was somewhat strong enough to not only defend itself but once again exert some influence of their own (Korean war)

Is that not true for other high gdp parts of the US?

samefag

>and had quite a strong military presence in the past which is why they were able to defend korea against the japs when they invaded the first time around.

Oh please. The Chinese did jack-all during the Imjin War other than rape and pillage the Korean countryside. Also the Ming emperor couldn't have cared less about saving Korea, he was just scared of Japan invading China.

The Ming army in the Imjin War was only about 60,000 men, less than half the Japanese force there and at one point the emperor actually offered to partition Korea between China and Japan, but negotiations broke down when Hideyoshi demanded to marry a Chinese princess.

Japan withdrew because Hideyoshi died, not due to anything the Chinese did.

Literally everyone who talks shit about Chinese warfare talks about the 19th to mid-20th centuries when they were literally at their weakest and wrecked by civil war and unrest. Never mind that as a civilization spanning millennia you're bound to have those periods.

You don't even have to look that far to see how they completed outmaneuvered US-led UN forces in Korea and only stopped short of occupying the entire peninsula due to logistics.

bevinalexander.com/excerpts/korean-war/tactics-chinese-communists-korean-war.htm

>During the Chinese civil war, Mao Zedong and his commanders had developed a highly effective method of dealing with more heavily armed Nationalist troops. Peng Dehuai now adapted these tactics to the Americans and their allies.

>The Chinese tried whenever possible to infiltrate through enemy positions in order to plant a roadblock on the supply line, in hopes of inducing the enemy to retreat to regain contact with the rear. If UN forces stayed in position, the roadblocks still were useful in cutting off escape routes and supply.

>In infiltration and assaults against front-line positions, the Chinese moved largely at night to avoid air strikes and reduce aerial observation. In attacks they tried to isolate individual outposts, usually platoons, by striking at the fronts, while at the same time attempting to outflank them. The purpose was to defeat forces in detail by gaining local superiority. If they could not destroy enemy positions, they hoped to induce the opponent to withdraw. When this failed, they got as close as possible to the enemy so that, when daylight came, U.S. aircraft would be unable to bomb them for fear of hitting friendly troops.

>As soon as they met resistance, they deployed, peeling off selected small units to engage the opposition. However, if they met no resistance, the whole column often moved in the darkness right past defensive emplacements deep into the rear of enemy positions.

And don't get me started on the Jin conquest of north China when the Sung royal family were taken away as common slaves or the Mongol conquest which killed 30 million people.

You mean for one century in thousands of years of being the dominant power on earth?

Long story short, big armies were always a threat to imperial power as it gave generals a lot of power over large areas of the country. So the imperial household always worked to keep the military in check by limiting the number of professional soldiers they had

>that was somewhat strong enough to not only defend itself but once again exert some influence of their own (Korean war)
The Chinese initially got the drop on us due to MacArthur's idiocy and they were a very effective light infantry force honed by years of war against the KMT. Once we rallied and figured them out, we held them to the DMZ line for the rest of the war and killed 800,000 of them (US casualties in Korea were 135,000) because in the end their primitive logistics and human wave attacks just couldn't keep up.

>human wave attacks
See They were called "human wave attacks" because US forces were constantly getting outflanked and couldn't figure out why. In the end, logistics hindered them more than allied forces "figuring them out."

Funny how “human wave” tactics is called shock troops when westerners do it. The gap was less one of tactics and more of a gap in the industrialization of the east and west at the time. More often than not Americans came out on top due to thier artillery superiority (air support was still a ways off) and not due to any genius tactical maneuvers

MacArthur maybe should have thought better of sending soldiers with summer clothing into the mountains of North Korea with winter approaching. Logistical support especially food rations were also poorer than they should have been.

It's honestly funny how often mutts forget their own strategic failures (especially in recent years) while dwelling on everyone else's. I don't know any war that was ever won by underestimating the enemy. Mutts literally can't decide if China is a fly on the windshield or a world-ending threat. GG.

There are a great number of reasons, but a big one is that China has rightly identified war as a fail-state of a government.

cause they don't care about themselves so if they see an injured comrade they just let him die and end up losing all their soldiers faster than anyone else

In Confucian ideology, a ruler who fails to preserve social harmony loses the Mandate of Heaven. Resisting invaders was never a big issue since in time they would become Sinicized as did the numerous steppe hordes that invaded over the centuries.

I wish my fellow Americans would wake up and realize China is our greatest global ally. If we would stop our nationalist bickering at each other and join arms as two different implementations of hegemon governance, realizing the value in each other and respecting each other's incredible cultures, we would be far closer to a global utopia.

To my Chinese friends, both in the PRC and ROC, I wholly extend this post as evidence for the potential that would come from an allyship.

We waste our time on Japan and Korea. The real gem of Eastern Asia are the friends of the Celestial empire. Truly, you are our greatest ally.

Utopia is dystopian in nature

Americans have a habit of going into Asian countries thinking it will be easy and it not working out

There's a reason China's been so successful across so many centuries. It's directly to do with the fact that preserving social harmony has been cemented at the center of their philosophy for millenia.

While Europeans were killing each other over tax rights and blood grudges, the dynasties of China were developing advanced schools of thought to prevent civil wars, while bravely and skillfully many armies foolish enough to invoke the temper of the sated dragon. That is the mark of true power, strength, and wisdom. Never does China care to subjugate foreign forces. It wishes to be left alone to manage its riches, enjoy its natural splendor, and create a more peaceful society. Sometimes the incompetant bureacracy endemic to the ruling kingdom strays from this path, but eventually it always returns.

From the perspective of a deprecated idea of a country like yours, certainly. You're always welcome to join the union, though.

Didn;t seem to stop China from having a Major rebellion and civil war every 50 years. The only times China has been stable pre communism, is when it was ruled by based steppe bvlls

>every 50 years
False. But I shouldn't expect much from someone who can't separate an apostrophe from a semi-colon.

My boy, we were btfo'ing Chinese soldiers with a kd of 20/1, Truman just didn't want to risk the Soviet Union getting involved, which was autistic because the Soviets didn't give a fuck.

Your mom's my cock puppet.

>not an argument

Do you also larp as a Mexican flag poster? You use the same images as him and have the same responses.

Here's MacArthur talking about his feelings on Russia:
>“Russia? It makes me laugh when I recall the fears of the Truman-Acheson-Marshall-Bradley-General Staff group that Russia would commit its armies to a war in China’s behalf at the end of an endless one-track railroad [the trans-Siberian, the only means of resupply once the airforce was destroyed] to a peninsular background that led only to the sea. Russia could not have engaged us. She would not have fought for China. She is already unhappy and uncertain over the colossus she has encouraged.”

Anyway, Truman was a county-level administrator thrust into an unimaginably powerful position he was not prepared for and he was a pussy who fired MacArthur.

The same stupidity carried through into Vietnam when Johnson and McNamara were terrified of World War III happening if a Soviet military adviser was accidentally hit with a piece of shrapnel during a bombing raid.

Must have sucked really hard to repel invaders for over 4000 years. Mongols and Manchu integrated into China, otherwise they had no chance of staying in power.

>G-g-g-gGUYS it like doesn't count, CHINA STRONK, after they each took 100 Chinese women, they are now Chinese!...Right guys?

imagine having to cope this hard.

Attached: eee.jpg (647x740, 54K)

>zhang

Dude, the Mongols and Manchu litterally larped as Chinese, they gave themselves fancy Chinese titles and the structure of government remained mostly the same.

He's right. Everyone who ever "ruled" China eventually got absorbed into it. It's how the Han identity remains intact, or else modern China would just be called Greater Mongolia.

Answer me

Don't even reply to it or give it (Yous). Not worth it.

>Why have they sucked at war for centuries?
>Hurr Durr, it must be because of foreign opium introduced in the 19th century!
>Obviously this event covers about 2,000 years of the Chinese getting conquered, pillaged, raped and ruled over by every other nation or ruler who even looked in China's direction, even retroactively!

Ask me how I know you're retarded. Go ahead, ask me.

Nope. This is my only flag. Also remember that anyone who says to ignore me has previously lost to me in an internet argument. I'm literally the bane of every armchair general who thinks his country can win a modern war when it can't even defeat a bunch of cave-dwelling goat herders and opium farmers.

They're also no longer sure they can protect Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion. It might've been possible 20-30 years ago, but China's military modernization has only accelerated while Taiwan is less combat-ready than it's ever been in its entire history. It has more guns than it has bullets and more fighter jets than it has missiles and pilots. China is counting on that trend to continue, basically waiting for that critical point when Taiwan will either be too militarily weak to mobilize a viable resistance (and the United States too limpwristed to do anything about it, see Ukraine), or the island will simply have too many PRC sympathizers for an armed invasion to even be necessary anymore. The pro-independence party already lost the last round of elections in favor of the KMT who favor closer relations with Beijing.

I'm quaking in my boots.

The true question is why build the Great Wall? Just build walls around cities ffs

>Chinese filling stations are just metal cans with hoses running out of them
That looks real safe.

Walls around cities don't protect supply lines and farmlands. Not that the Great Wall was particularly effective anyway, but still a pain in the ass to get horses through.

But a lot of nation/empires had the same problems but they didn't build a wall around them. Probably they could have invested their money better

Hindsight is 20/20. Either way, city walls protect cities while strong borders protect nations.

Sorry, where are you from? I dont recognize that flag.

You do realize that the nature of defense changed dramatically in this exact way for virtually every ancient empire? The Persians, the Romans, the Turks, everyone. Building a wall around your entire empire keeps people from sacking it, mostly for food and valuables, many of which can be found outside the cities, in the fields where food is grown or in the possession of people who don't live in the cities. The ideal situation is one in which you can defend all of your territory and keep outsides from plundering your resources, crops and citizens for wealth and food.

Nations only turned to the "Walls around every town" model of defense once shit was so fucked that they couldn't possibly defend their territory. They moved to a model where most of the wealth was concentrated in the cities (Because you didn't want to lose your wealth in a sacking and the troops were no longer patrolling the frontier) and the food went into city granaries for storage instead of hand-to-mouth at harvest. The walls around every Roman city, as an example, were only built in the last couple hundred years of dwindling life for Western Rome, after things had broken down so badly on so many fronts that Roman Territory as a whole couldn't possibly be defended. At that point the idea is, put all the wealth behind the wall along with all the soldiers, defend smaller areas with more of your men concentrated in them, and leave the fields and wilderness open to plundering since there's nothing you can do about it anyway.

Its not an ideal position to be waging a defensive war from, basically.

Calm down friend how about some opium?

they built walls around cities too

Korea should be red too.

And Japan too

>largest economies before the 18th century

GDP is a rather useless metric before the advent of the industrial revolution and world wide trade.

China having the largest economy just meant china had the most people toiling away on the farms.

>200 are shot down
by what?
Here's the better scenario
>China launches 300 nukes at Yellow Stone.
>NA dies

>China launches 300 nukes at Yellow Stone
You lost all credibility with just that, nukes would do nothing to yellow stone. The force needed to do a shift and cause an eruption would require 1000 tsar bombas, in VERY specific and condensed locations

we have an impeccable anti ballistic missile defense screen
