I like big cities, you can literally go out at 3am on monday and there are still people, still something to do. Lot of opportunities, specific climate, people from every country.
From my point of view I say because I live in small 100k city here in Poland, and London makes really a good impression. But I clearly understand that for someone who has been living there for entire life it does not make impression.

In Bogota, where im currently residing. There's a neighborhood called Chapinero. Which is famous due to the old architecture. I've been told that most of this houses were build by British architects on the beginning of XX century.

I really like this aesthetic in houses if i dare to say. I always had the impressions that most neighborhoods in London would look like pic related (better obviously, since we are talking of a 1st world country)

London is pretty cool, lots to see and most museums are free. Go to Tate Modern and/or Sky Garden (you have to reserve a time slot) for a nice view across Zone 1 and beyond.

You need to calm down slightly. There are areas of London with unbroken historic architecture that are very pleasant to visit.
You can walk inside the Tate Modern but none of the galleries are free.

London has opulent and and run-down parts, it's a really big place. Tourists only see the good side, you wouldn't have a lot to worry about.
I'm not an expert on architecture but it looks like half-timber work which is quite common everywhere in England.

you won't find too much of that in London. It's called Tudor revival architecture here and you get a little bit of it in every place but no single town is defined by it. If you wanna see that you're better off going to look around some small market towns

Europe is small but London is still quite far from Madrid by car and you should avoid French highways because of the toll
