Honest answer? Yea. South America becomes more popular as soccer becomes more popular in japan. A teacher I work with speaks Spanish and Portuguese. Many japanese kids want to go to South America too.

Japanese phonetics and spanish phonetics are very similar, consonants are pretty much identical except for L/R.
