What happened next wasn't remotely normal. The USA decided to engineer a global alliance of industrialized nations including both sides of the war that had just taken place, and nobody was in a position to object.

As a result of this, you have a rigid, authoritarian, close-minded, uptight automaton who would put his own disabled grandmother in a gas chamber for being a useless burden for the economy and damaging the GDP or would kill his half-Jewish neighbour for being a latent Bolshevik. That's how German brains work. They haven't changed and they are still capable of doing something like that. Today you have a slightly socially awkward middle class man who is good at engineering and always pays taxes and never jaywalks, and the next day he is a sadistic psychopath who tortures children and makes gloves and book covers out of their skin.

German mentality boils down to (1) zombie-like obedience to authority, (2) lack of empathy and compassion and (3) constant lust for power and domination over others.

This isn't true at all, in all major german cities and the areas around the concentration camps people were aware that jews and enemies of the regime were being deported by the nazis.
Few people were questioning the happenings, they rather moved into the superior apartment of the deported neighbours or bought their stuff on small auctions. Only people in small and very rural villages didn't knew what was happening because they had only very limited ways of communicating with the outer world and probably never spoke to a jew before if they had never visited any towns or cities.

Even if this was true about the death camps they couldn't ignore the concentration camps in germany and most germans were ok about it, nazis would actually praise those "reeducation camps" in their propaganda. Many germans benefited from Hitler being in power, pillaging the rest of europe to feed germany, so those not being opportunistic were at least ok with closing their eyes on it

You're right. Jews and political enemies weren't gassed within german borders, but handicapped children were gassed in hospitals which were located in germany. Political enemies either were sent to "concentration camps" in germany were they had to perform forced labour or were inprisoned and got executed.

Most importantly, after the war Americans conducted an anonymous opinion poll in their occupation zone, and most Germans supported violence against Jews and Poles as necessary for their survival. So it wasn't the question of knowing or not knowing.

Anyone middle-class or above would've been used to seeing slaves imported from the labor camps do construction work, etc. There's very little evidence to back up the notion that neither soldiers nor civilians were aware of what was happening. the only reason why anybody cares about the whole ordeal of the last two great wars is because Germany single-handedly embarrassed the French Republic and the United Kingdom and their whole Colonial Empires. We generally lacked supplies at the end of the war and we still had massive amounts of POWs its to be expected. Even people in the netherlands starved because we went out of supplies.

Partisans and finding political enemies such as Bolsheviks actively going against the german government. Of course there were a lot of jews between those but we didn't just kill them for fun. But we at least had some sort of reason to believe that he might be one or protected another one.
