So...

so, which of these 3 is the most fun and neat (I don't wanna say 'useful') language for me to learn after I'm done with japanese? of course I'll use more than duolingo. this website is mostly a fun way to pass the time.

German or Russian, either way it's a good choice

> I'm done with japanese
how did your learn it?
any recommendations?

yeah I have german as a personal favorite, think I'll go with that one

I'm far from done, but same as english, internet, video games and a process of going form subtitled to non subtitled media (anime in this case). I just find it so fun to learn another language I might start another before I'm done with it

there's so much you useful stuff you can find online, like this for example jaylink.name/japanese/nihongo_o_oshiete/index.php, duolingo serves mostly as a mere and practical way to memorize hiragana and small words

which one do you see yourself using most

Today I leveled up in German

The one that you'd use irl and those are none of it for you. Literally

You couldn't read this without translate and it's intentionally simplified.

Russian is a really cool language to learn and is way easier than people say.
also this

The Polish course on Duolingo is pretty bad compared to other Duolingo courses, including Russian and German. They didn't even finish the Tips & Notes section.

who hurt you?

I had fun studying German, I haven't learned any Slavic languages yet. Since you already know English, German will be somewhat familiar.

You get to learn a new alphabet if you learn Russian.

Use the DJT guide. The Kana page is sweet. Download the Anki decks for Vocabulary, read Tae Kim for grammar.

Too bad sometimes it feels Tae Kim doesnt have enough exercises, and the Anki cards don't list both kun and on readings or derivatives at the same time.

I want to learn German to get in touch with my ancestors

Saying things in russian is fun
The words are very beautiful

Polotentsa is a towel.

The point isnt to do all 5 levels in one go. You have levels so you can continually brush up on stuff

Learn French if you want a useful language.

Learn Japanese if you want the best porn in the world.

German is weird at times but i can't be harder than japanese. Pronunciation also mostly stays the same unless it's a foreign word.
you probably shouldn't go for polish tho

>you probably shouldn't go for polish tho
Nonsense.

Russian, you seem to be fine with different alphabets if you learned japanese.

>i like to learn non useful languages

German seems like the most “useful” in terms of economic benefit (given Germany’s economic and scientific influence). Then again, Russia is spoken more widely so it has that going for it. Culturally (literature, film and so on), I think they are more or less equally useful to you, depending on your tastes.

Polish on the other hand is a fairly niche language to learn in those regards.

*Russian, that is.

well there's always "practice"

Russian language kind of seems like it's dying what with Russia's population and sphere of influence slowly declining. I'd learn it if I could be bothered.

>after I'm done with japanese
Sounds optimistic as fuck.
