What goes on here? It seems like such a mysterious place, it's a big country geographically and 18 million is a significant population, yet you never hear about it
Kazakhs are mostly Muslim but I don't seem to ever hear about issues with terrorism, or religious conflict like I do in middle eastern and south asian Muslim countries

just no, its practically empty. The US has almost 18 times the population and is still full of empty space.
18 million people is still 18 million people though, that's a lot of people imo, especially considering my country only has like 35 million

You know Uzbekistan has a larger population than that. And Kyrgyz and Turkmeni stans are the interesting ones.

Almaty is the old Soviet capital and that's where all the cool stuff is at. In or near the Fergana, so very nice nature like the 3 other -stans. (minus turkmenistan)

Most Kazakhs aren't very religious (they'll eat pork and bacon, rarely go to the mosque, etc.) and even the ones that are religious are more traditional Sunnis rather than Salafist types
Kazakhs are very good people, more civilized than Poles.
