Why do third worlders tend to migrate to the biggest cities instead of living in small comfy towns like here in Europe where there's a lot of space and you don't have to live in slums?
Economic reasons.
costs of living in small towns is lower as well, in fact people in big cities have lower purchasing power than in small towns as rent and other expenses are proportionally higher than the difference in wages is
big cities are a scam
Big cities have more economic opportunities. In small villages there aren't a lot of opportunity for economic mobility. Some people are willing to take the risk for that chance.
Among my dad's brothers, those who got out of the village and worked in the city are the most successful.
Le ebin small comfy towns meme strikes again.
Living in those is mainly bland and boring, nothing happens in them and there are hundreds if not thousands of similar looking ones, not one of them is any unique. Also, if you want a proper job you will probably need commute all the way to work.
That's how market works. There are only so many flats to go around in London for example. They could easily build themselves out of this situation by just upzoning current developments so they could accommodate more people, but the officials are all 'bout that preserving the soul of the city bullshit.
People like you are the cancer of the earth. These concrete hellholes will never last.
>are the most successful.
People only pretend because admitting life in a big city is actually worse than in a small town would be too hard for them as they sacrificed a lot and put much effort into moving to the city yet it didn't turn out to be as great as they had expected.
>Big cities have more economic opportunities
And they're much more expensive so as I said - the difference in wages rarely compensates the growth of costs of living. Not to mention how much time in life you lose in traffic jams, how much health you lose breathing polluted air etc.
>Living in those is mainly bland and boring, nothing happens in them and there are hundreds if not thousands of similar looking ones, not one of them is any unique.
Who forbids you to go to the big city for shopping or sightseeing something like that once or twice a week?
>Also, if you want a proper job you will probably need commute all the way to work.
What does 'proper' even mean, anyway, this 'proper' job won't be paid as much to allow you to live a good life in the expensive big city, it is true for 90% of economic migrants to big cities.
Yes, I know they are more expensive. But there are more opportunities in cities if you're lucky and managed to get some education. While in the village your options are limited, being a teacher or government official is probably the furthest you could go in the village.
>People only pretend
Not my family. My dad moved to the city to go to university and have been living in cities since then and now he's the most successful out of all his brothers. While his brothers that stayed in the village are just teachers now. While there's nothing wrong with being teachers, that's exactly what my grandfather did, which means there's not much social mobility.
Though I have to say that this was a couple of decades ago. I don't think it's easier as it was now to make it big in the city.
