The people along the coast are enjoying a higher standard of living than the rest since they can work in tourism. The industry is still recovering from the war and the 'privatization' but the country attracts foreign investors since it is developing to a attractive tourist destination.

evade Podgorica like the plague, it's just your generic everyday city with not that many interesting things to do, Instead spend the day in the Bay of Kotor, I'd also recommend visiting the fortress above the old city and if you are up for a bus trip you can go along the coast of the bay or to the mountaintops using the old roads build during the times of Austria-Hungary and the Kingdom of Montenegro.
