do you know, what are the oldest standing structures in turkey?
göbeklitepe
its the oldest known structure known to men
oh thats neat. Yall was civilization n sheit.
proto-western turks were building temples to MED long before some inbred angloid celts were stacking couple of rocks together.
Pathetic
I know. you guys were really on the ball. I would wish Turkey would restore all its old cities to their former glory. that would be so neat if the exteriors looked ancient but he home interiors were new and modern.
anatolians dont care about history, there are shittons of historical building in istanbul alone where the government simply refuses to repair because its ''byzantine'' or ''not muslim''.
Erdog famously destroyed many byzantine artifacts while he was building a metro under the bosphorus saying it was ''useless junk, trinkets and vases and shit''
>Erdog famously destroyed many byzantine artifacts while he was building a metro under the bosphorus saying it was ''useless junk, trinkets and vases and shit''
checked.. I don't like that though. Cause yall's shit is SO old its a testament to humanity and the capabilities of man to make societies that far back. It not like some shit from the middle-ages, its among the oldest in human history. Thats sad that it gets wrecked.
that place was built before agriculture was discovered
the theories toward it right now is that either hunter gatherer cultures somehow made time to develop the skills to make a giant stone temple complex or theres a culture that made it that's wiped from the historical record by a disaster
keep in mind they only found it in the 90s
there are both ''legal'' and illegal touristic spots dangerously close to incredibly old and nimble historical buildings and touristic sites in general all around turkey.
They do it to attract the retarded tourists. Couple of months ago there were news about a construction of an hotel which was literally 5 cm away from a really old rock formation which was the area's tourist destination. Popular movement through social media stopped the construction for 2 weeks even though the hotel owner manage to '''legally'''buy his way to own that plot of land and right afterwards the hotels restrictions were lifted and it was built anyway.
PROTO
WESTERN
TURKS
It's probably built by a conglemerate of nomad people's who would visit once or twice every year for religious needs then go back to their nomad lives. It suspected that there were more minor temples all over the area but they were knowingly destroyed by the inhabitants cause they feared it would be captured.
>that place was built before agriculture was discovered
They were probably killed off by a large group of warring nomads.
yeah it's more the development of masonry and sophisticated carving techniques before historians think people had enough excess food supply for those kinds of specialists to have the time to invent that
because the former theory was that only agricultural societies had that because of their surplus food
possible, civilizations have collapsed after much less though
did nothing productive all day
hey var im looking up for an old french comic i used to read.
It was about 2 soldiers living in a barracks. Its not les tuniques bleues. I remember one of the soldiers being fat and wearing a helmet that would go over his eyes and i think he had a massive single tooth while his mouth was closed.
Does it ring any bell
Cajun
based and redpilled
>civilizations have collapsed after much less though
sure, would have been a drought or flood that killed them.
How to declare most of Turkey a museum? Once we find out how to have sky cities all of turkey will be excavated.
flood doesnt affect nomadic people, these people hadnt settled by then.
Drought is highly unlikely too, these guys had mesopotamia to their south and cyricia to their west
well if they were hunter/gatherers or nomads, a change in an animals migration or a disease killing an animal population off would decimate a culture
if they were agrarian then drought/famine is plausible on top of invasion (and honestly one tends to follow the other, a drought in one land would send the men abroad to reave and steal)
nope sorry
ask hérault
the fact that these people possibly knowingly destroyed their minor temples in fear of it being conquered and sacked probably meant that they were actively running away from someone else
could try /co/ as well even tho its a shit board
hadn't heard that, fascinating
they were running away from me
>the fact that these people possibly knowingly destroyed their minor temples in fear of it being conquered and sacked probably meant that they were actively running away from someone else
I think you should write the movie script for it. Its a good premise for a film.
you're not wrong.
Göbekli tepe isn't listed with the oldest standing structures, too damaged
The oldest man made surviving structures are in Brittany.
They're in better shape but Göbekli Tepe is still much older that's true
its what most historians in turkey think is one of the most plausible outcomes
It was the anatolians
Proto-western turks were running away from the proto-anatolians since time immemorial
Wrong pic, that wasn't in Brittany tho it's among the oldests
The accepted oldest is pic related
Idk either
I've never read much Franco-Belgian comics beyond the most famous ones
the dandelions are keeping it held together.
I will go see your movie about this when you produce it finally. It will be like the Apocalypto of Anatolia
have you been there?
Apocalypto is kino
No I've never been to Brittany at all
Normandy was the closest thing
I fugin thought so. only reason it has a 60% on Rotten Tomatoes is because it was Mel G . directing it.
>Normandy
I think I had people from there far back enough. whats it like?
/Dixie/ is the most intellectual general on Jow Forums
yeah thats why applel tards and flaglets arent allowed

AWAY DOWN SOUTH IN THE LAND OF TRAITORS, RATTLESNAKES AND ALLIGATORS
i wonder why do they come here, when we never shit up their threads? maybe because it would just fit in?
Honestly who gives a shit
If they bother you that much, just filter out key words and they'll disappear pretty much instantly because they only say three or four different things
they are retarded fat autists with a bad case of blind nationalism, like all americans
>whats it like?
Pretty in a very quaint way, it doesn't have much staggering scenery once you leave the rocky coast but it's a great pastoral picture. Thatched and half timbered houses, pastures, early morning fog...
It's also one of the French region that is the most devoid of forests. But it doesn't look barren, it's just that much of the land is divided in small patches of cow pastures separated by hedgerows, in a landscape called "bocage" also very prevalent in the UK
Rather than large patches of uniterrupted woods you'll have rows after rows of trees, separating fields and pastures like in pic related.
It slowed down the Allies progression in WWII a lot
Shit general IMO
also they wuz vikings
it looks comfy as all get out
Ye but I figured it was obvious already in such an intellectual thread

Great to take shelter when it's too fucking hot on the coast plain and these places off the radar when it comes to tourism, I've never met someone who wasn't a local or from a neighbouring département on a hike
There is only one god and his name is Bateman

how do you feel about tourists
Mixed feelings, they are undeniably the livelyhood of a huge % of people living in Hérault and the vacuum would be considerable if for some reason tourism stopped
At the same time fuck em for the traffic jams they cause in town 3 months a year and fuck em for preventing any sane local to go to the beach during these months.
Seaside tourism here is cancer, we're cheaper than Provence and more accessible than Corsica so we get all the trashy Euro boomers. Fuck them also for buying properties they only inhabit a handful a years and leaving whole neighbourhood empty the rest of the year while locals have trouble finding housing
I prefer the kind of tourism that happens more inland in the département, it's focused towards the outdoors so you get people slighly more respectful of their environment
I'm a big tourist too so I don't want them gone I just want them to behave
>Fuck them also for buying properties they only inhabit a handful a years
I meant a handful of month a year
kinda sounds like the florida of france.
>whole neighborhood empty the rest of the year while locals have trouble finding housing
sounds like a burglars paradise
I don't know if there's anything valuable inside, it's not villas more like flats
Many of them aren't even occupied by their owners but rented for tourists and the result is the same, ded neigbourhoods the rest of the year
it seems a waste for them to be dead.
did you ever get your motorcycle running?
i hate these pixel art gif thing
