Well generally yes, we inhabit mostly the same lands as the ancients did except the lack of lands to our modern neighbors/enemies
The language also plays an important role because the majority of the words in modern Greek is from ancient Greek and just the words seem to be countless to me, also Koine Greek that's from 300BC-300AD is
90% understandable by a modern Greek speaker
And wine and olive oil are popular here like in most Mediterranean countries

It personally annoys me that foreigners usually focus on ancient Greeks and the ancient Greek language like they both disappeared like the ancient Egyptians, I can't explain better
Like they don't even think of what we've been though, Roman conquest, Arab/Bulgarian/Seljuk/Ottoman invasions and almost 400 years under the Ottoman empire. It's a success that the Eastern Roman empire lasted for more than a millennium, all the empires come to an end sooner or later
Thankfully the Greek language was saved by the educated Greeks that escaped in Western Europe after the fall of Constantinople in 1453
And they teach pretty much about all the eras of our history in school, ancient Greece, mythology, Byzantine empire since it's considered here that we were the core of the empire and our modern history that starts after the fall of Constantinople
