Unlike South Africa which is democratic and where people got to see what being developed looks like, and now they all want it no matter what. So their government has to subsidize a shit ton of people to keep public descent down, which leaves no money for infrastructure. And on top of that they also have a booming population and need like 6-7% growth to cover for pop growth, gibs and failing infrastructure. So they're going in debt, nobody invests since they're going down and they can't even go above 2% growth.

Do you understand what protectionism is? Protectionism would be restricting imports on foreign brands. But we are talking about outsourcing labor to foreign countries. But the owners are still american companies. They just outsource labor to the countries with cheaper labor.
