Do French people see themselves as belonging more to Mediterranean civilisation (Italy, Iberia, Greece), or Germanic civilisation (Britain, Germany, Benelux, Scandinavia)?
In England, we've always perceived them to be very culturally similar to countries like Italy and Spain, but many French people on Jow Forums tell me that this isn't the case, so I'm curious.

Something in between. I think we have cultural similarities with both sides of Europe, although most parts of France definitely have more affinity for the Romance-speaking world. In the end, I think this makes us distinct enough from both civilisations to consider ourselves our own thing.
