Why do Japanese describe Japan as "a country with 4 seasons", as it's something noteworthy?

Can someone please help me in saying Checking my email. Checking text messages Here is attempt メールを調べるした message を 調べる Wait, is there japanese word for texting? I am texting him... texting???

because japan is extra extra special, gaijin wouldn't understand
They write the names of those 4 seasons with characters they borrowed from another country. The fact that this implies that at least 1 other country must thus have 4 seasons doesn't seem to affect their opinion. I was in Kyoto last month and a woman asked me various questions about what i'd liked about my stay in japan and then told me about tohoku and asked me about which aspects of tohoku would be most likely to interest me, tourism-wise. one of the points was "the four seasons". I didn't know what to say, really. i didn't want to break it to her that brown leaves in autumn snow in the winter and the sun in the summer weren't really anything noteworthy

in florida we don't have 4 seasons i am very jelly

>メールを調べるした メールを確認した* (I checked my emails)
>Wait, is there japanese word for texting? unfortunately, there's no exact Japanese equivalent of texting which means to "send a text message to someone". we usually use simply メールする or メールを送る as the meaning of that like: 私は彼にメールした or 私は彼にメールを送った (I texted him) 私はメールを確認した (I checked text messages)

It seems like Japan has a lot of cloudy weather regardless of season + heavy rainfall in early summer. Doesn't sound as romantic as the "country with 4 seasons" entails. Maybe living in Colorado spoiled me.
Josiah Long
Yes but Japan has all 4 seasons. Other countries have only one season year round. That's what's unique about Japan
Cooper Edwards
unless you live in an extreme climate, you'll experience all four seasons (to an extent at the very least).
