Once recently I was walking to my car after work (I worked at a concert venue) and a guy had missed his ride and the cabs he was calling were too dumb to understand where he was. I tried helping him with the cabs but eventually just offered to drive him home. Drove him home to the other part of the city, he gave me $20 for it and I turned it down as it was just naturally the right thing to do but he insisted. But it was just an act, I was pretending, these are all pranks because nobody is actually kind and being cold and callous is the natural state of being for Europeans

They didn't have much to say, but I just took that to mean that they didn't see any importance in small talk. When I needed help with something, they were always more than happy to offer advice or otherwise oblige.
