Which country had the knights that looked the coolest?
Which country had the knights that looked the coolest?
France maybe
what did dutch/belgian knights look like?
Unfortunately I don’t have any pics but the Knights of the Emirate of Granada were pretty kino in that they all used entirely European style armour with added Eastern/Muslim aesthetics
Medieval Scandinavia
post more examples?
this is one from ±1600
Ok that was Birger Jarl's invasion of Finland. This is Swedes vs Danish army and German mercenaries
German Landsknechte
huh... so you could say swedes are the "bulls" of the danes, finns, and germans...?
have any pre-1500 examples? such as what type of surcoats/coats of arms medieval dutch knights wore?
Yes and Norwegians are also bulls
wow that's pretty cool user :) those f*nns must be seething, haha. :)
No they are our brothers :)
Landsknechte were clearly the Chads of the 16th century
they look like a bunch of queers
little brothers always get the short end, i guess. :)
thanks for elaborating on your country's history for me! very insightful.
that's a poor example, later knights looked like poofters.
We haven't that much in our museums. Most of our stuff was taken to Spain and Vienna by the Habsburgs
Winged Hussars obviously
hahahahaha
Nice picture. Who is leading the army on the left?
WOAH WHAT A FREAK
Not knights, mercenaries.
Grote Peer, frisian dudes with giant swords.
what the heck is that :)
Honestly there were two types of knights that looked badass - the winged hussars and the teutonic knights. Other knights resembled more of modern soyboys see as an example
that be ALEXANDER NEVSKY
best itt
Wtf seriously? Prince Alexander Nevsky was said to have fought this guy man against man during the Battle of Neva
can i lick your butthole?
NOOOOOO
He did, but the battle wasn't much more than a skirmish. A lot of his exploits have been exaggerated desu.
*licks your butthole*
>Which country had the knights that looked the coolest?
USA
When will they learn
Someone please post Samurai so that we can break this boring context.
idk
"Country"
based Swede
In which age?
those are not Knights tho
I know but the first ones I posted are knights
B(enelux)urgund.
Would also be Part of that area, desu.
Did that Däne recieve a magical Ring from his Jarl?
make your own thread then nigger
Voilà, end of the thread.
Didn't they look relatively similar across the west? At least in the middle ages, with different styles mainly coming up during early modernity when they were already losing their relevancy
The styles of armour etc. were similar, but different styles existed at the same time, mostly due to monetary restrictions (not everyone could afford the same amounts of armor). A full kit of Milanese plate was in a vastly different price range than some basic man-at-arms style armours.
God bless Birger Jarl for Stockholm
Not if Eastern Europe is included
the guy on the top is making fun of me and I don't like it
You're probably right that France had the best cavalry in Europe. Too bad they kept getting dabbed on by Spanish infantry.
i think is not specific to a country(?) but I always liked this one
>cliche minimal design helmets
Yeah I’m thinking fucking no.
Everything ITT is lame as fuck. Get some taste.
Is this the Albigensian Crusade?
That one is a-historical. They weren't wearing great helms while they had full plate
Look at this suit of armour I saw in Belgium the other week, man looks like a frog
That would make for a really cool fantasy race.
Chad Russian vityaz dab on you virgin crusaders.
Low-budget ones.
yo dog I heard you like fish
based salmoknight
this is Floris, count of Holland from 1060 or something
Those aren't knights, but there were actual knights in Croatia, Hungary, Poland and even Serbia, and they look the same as the rest of them, with the wealthiest ordering German and Italian armor.
Not every armored dude on a horse is a knight.
KARA BOGA army of Hungary
>Armor? What for? God protects me for I am a warrior of Rus
>Besides, you wouldn't want to be frostbitten by it when the temperature gets to -50
>Ok that was Birger Jarl's invasion of Finland.
He invaded Tavastia with a support of Finnish chieftains.
