fucking terrifying. in the foothills of the rockies in colorado, i was hiking all day with my brother and our friend, we started heading back down becase the sun was going down, we finally got near the bottom of the foothills and it was dark at this point but we had flashlights. got to an area that opens up like a prairie and gets sorta flat, my dumb brother thought it would be funny to start running and yelling like he was scared of something and he took off in front of us. me and my friend started jogging a bit to keep up with him and we were pointing our lights in his direction when suddenly like 10 feet to the side of him two fucking yellow dots appeared out of nowhere and suddenly coming into view was a big fucking mountain lion. my brother stopped and turned pretty quick cuz he noticed it but didnt know what it was at first, after maybe 2 seconds we all finally processed what we were seeing and we all started yelling, luckily the mountain lion hauled ass away at the speed of light through the prairie. absolutely fucking horrifying. you could hear our heartbeats standing 5 feet away from us. the walk down the rest of the way was spooky and paranoia inducing, every sound after that sounded like a stalking animal.

the pic you posted is one of the closest ive seen to show how scary an encounter with one of these cats is like irl, they usually look staged or something and small and cute, but in person they are like the presence of the grim reaper closing in on you.
