I don't know about other countries but in Spain, it goes somewhat like this: some people are very "dark" (both phenotypically and pigmentation wise), some people are very "light" (even having pseudonordic look like your friend), and most people range somewhere in between (could fit in France or Germany, though with darker pigmentation on average). If you can speak spanish without a hint of a foreign accent, I'd say most european types would fit here.
