I am a germanboo myself too.

Based empire.

It had potenial, but also many flaws, like the opression of minorities and hostile relation with its neighbours, particuallry france

Only because they had Polish people in that nation.

significant part of its territory was populated by poles so I doubt it

>Federalism was enshrined in the Bundesrat (Federal Council), which consisted of 58 representatives from the various state governments. In theory, it was the key decision-making body, representing all parts of Germany and the independent interests of those states. It alone had the right to alter the constitution and the agreement of the Bundesrat was necessary for all legislation. With the assent of the kaiser, the Bundesrat also had the authority to declare war and settle disputes between the states.

>But Prussian dominance was overwhelming, having been apportioned 17 of the seats in the Bundesrat council table, yet any military or constitutional issue could be vetoed by the opposition of 14 votes. So Prussia guaranteed its privilged position within the political structure of the Reich.

>The Imperial Parliament, or Reichstag, is more ambiguous. In what appeared to be a real concession to liberal democracy in the new constition, the Reichstag was elected directly by both secret ballot and universal male suffrage. Its assent was required for all legislation, including the periodic renewal of the defense budget. It was also made up of a wide variety of independent political parties representing the full spectrum of political interests; moreover, it had the power to question the chancellor and debate his policies.

>But the Reichstag lacked many of the powers associated with true democracy. Neither the chancellor or any other minister was responsible to the Reichstag for their actions. Moreover, it also could not introduce legislation, merely discuss or ratify bills or proposals put forth by the Bundesrat and the imperial government.

>They had no direct control over foreign policy or, outside voting for the defense budget, the conduct of the armed forces. In short, the Reichstag was a representative assembly, albeit one that was elected fairly democratically for the time, but it had no power and its political parties had no direct influence over national policy. Another problem was that political parties in imperial Germany tended to represent minority or niche interests, none had a broad-based mass appeal. The most striking challenge came from the Social Democrat Party (SPD), which Bismarck had cracked down upon harshly. He banned a number of its newspapers as well as trade unions, stopping only short of outlawing the party itself. But after Bismarck's dismissal in 1890, the laws against the SPD lapsed and it soon established a commanding presence in parliament.

>The 1871 constitution also granted the kaiser vast powers. He alone could appoint and dismiss the chancellor and he was supreme commander of the armed forces and final arbiter of war and peace.

>Although the kaiser and the German state proclaimed that Germany was "one nation, one God, and one emperor", Poles in the east, French in Alsace-Lorraine, and quite a few Bavarians would have wholeheartedly disagreed. These ethnic and cultural divides would cause trouble down the road, but Germany on the eve of WWI was an economic and industrial titan, reasonably stable internally, and democratic more on paper than in practice. Aside from the SPD, few political parties had any real vision or ideas, and the German population at large viewed liberal democracy with a degree of ambivalence and skepticism.

one of the most kino moments in history
literally declaring an empire that would've been unthinkable centuries ago in your enemy's territory

Death to all anglos

Attached: 1512752340457.png (591x422, 24K)

It's not hard to see why the Weimar Republic failed since German political culture at the time lacked a proper concept of democracy.

You mean Russia

ugh......

No that would be the USSR.

They were the problem though

Lol, the madmen actually did it

Democracy was a mistake anyway

Post-Bismarck chancellors were irrelevant literallywhos since Wilhelm II naturally wanted no one to challenge his authority.

A country that lasted less than 200 years can be considered nothing but failure. HRE maybe. German Empire, no.

All germanboos should get shot

"Germanboo" = "Bavariaboo" to about 90% of people.

>ended the '''''H'''' '''''R''''' '''''E'''''
>ended the german '''''''empire''''
Daily reminder we're the protagonist of history

If it wasn't for the Turks and Swedes the Habsburgs would've crushed France and if it wasn't for Britain and Russia Germany would've crushed France in 1914.

It also fails to mention that German universal suffrage wasn't all that universal.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_three-class_franchise

What this factually meant was that a rich mans vote had about 17x the value of a poor man's vote, even if both were net taxpayers.

Maybe in the real world, but on this corner of the internet it's generally Prussiaboo's.

Keep dreaming, loser

>flaws, like the opression of minorities

you're delusional
keep LARPing as your country tho if you think it makes you less pathetic

>she

The Reichstag had equal male suffrage, most of the member states didn't. Many other European states also had census qualifications at that time.

What was that sound? Millions of germans crying over the dissolution of their beloved """""empire""""" for the 75th time? Oh, no, just one, lonely, whiny kraut, my bad!

daily reminder that your country got buttfucked by germany three times after it unified and you had to rely on russians and anglos

calm down faggot

>Had P*les in it
I don't think so.

The Prussian parliament was absolute undemocratic, it preserved the classic three tier European parliamentary system that represented the crown, nobility, and clergy, but not the commoners. Some other German state governments however were far more liberal.

1914-1918 (french victory)
1940
What's the third time? You were talking about 1870, right?

>1914-1918 (french victory)
yes, not like it involved anyone besides France lmao
two times Germany and France fought 1v1, 1870 and 1940, both times France got curbstomped

Chill, chill, let's not start another war, winning against you can be really boring

Wilhelm II summed up his vision nicely in a speech where he declared "The army and the navy, not parliamentary majorities, have welded together the German Reich. My faith is in the army."

>french victory)
Do French really believe this?

Germany lost two wars, but in that time they destroyed France that it's still recovering and dismantled the British empire. And now Germany is ruling over the whole Europe and France has to beg to stay relevant.

>win world wars
>win the replacement of your own people
congratulation

Technically, we had the very useful anglos with us, in 1940...I guess it makes it even worse

nobody's gonna start a war you fucking autist
that's a quote of Bismarck, not Wilhelm II

>it preserved the classic three tier European parliamentary system that represented the crown, nobility, and clergy, but not the commoners.
That's wrong, read the link.

Ah, the good ol' Jow Forumstard argument!
Looks like WWII was not enough

However, Napoleon III massively fucked up by allowing Germany to unify under one government, something that French foreign policy going back to Louis XIV had consistently aimed to prevent.

Arguably the process also started with his uncle who greatly simplified the map of Germany and also ended up causing a German nationalist sentiment where one hadn't existed before.

>he takes this seriously and has the nerve to call me an autist
sad

That's because the wrong side won the cold war.

he's right you know

Saying the argument is used on a place you don't like doesn't refute it. Accept that your ancestors died so you can be replaced by Africans.
WW2 was enough, Germany no longer exists and will go down with you, the UK and the USA.

Yeah, so?

Notice that all three powers occupy German territory to this very day

you say that while being turkish lmao

it doesn't change what happened, but it's laughable to claim France did these things on its own

i mean we can never know as long as france doesn't collect census data about ethnicity

Nah. The Roman Empire was (if you consider it to be a country)
