Americans seem to be the most outspoken in their opinions of other countries. Why is that?
If you reverse that diagram it’s a picture of my anus as I’ve slowly turned more gay
>1 1/2
>7/8
>3/8
what the fucking fuck.
i have never seen a 1,5 (1927 type) donut
It's in inches. Europeans don't know how to do fractions?
so then go to mexico where they deep fry them and dump them into melted sugar.
Berliner > d*nut
>watching an american build something on youtube
>this shelf uses screws about an eight of an inch in length
> i this campfire uses 1 quart of liquid
>the thickness of this wall is 3/16 of an inch wide
Pączek >>> d*nut
3/16th sheetrock has poor insulation, most building codes demand 1/4" if not 5/8s" with 1/2" sheeting underneath.
Also how do Europeans even measure their lumber? 2x4s exist here because that's what their dimensions are.
I used to draw joinery plans and i cant imagine how fucking dumb it would be to design a staircase in inches
This thread just re-enforced my belive that people that Still use imperial are barbaric
your measurement systems are just as meaningless and arbitrary.
>The meter is defined as the distance travelled by light in a specific fraction (1/299 792 458) of a second.
Its based on something that is real and constant ,imperial is straight up retarded
There are literaly no arguments for imperial
you must be blind to history because as human measuring instruments become more precise, open standards governing bodies make decisions to change those units. The metric meter changed three times, and the speed of light definition was adopted in 1983.
The inch was defined to be 2.54mm back in 1946.
There's nothing "constant" about measurement systems and they are all arbitrary and meaningless.
hmm lets see
>kilometer, meter, decimeter, centimeter, millimeter
>a gram is a cubic centimetre of water at melting point
>the melting poing of water is 0 and the boiling point 100
>a second is the time period for a 1 meter long pendulum to swing from one end to the other
vs
>mile, yard, foot, inch
>pounds, stones, ounces
>temperature is based on horse blood
>there is no imperial time measurement because even people back then weren't as retarded as to try
That's funny because temperature is a function of energy, and you make it based on the phase change of water, which itself requires energy
Imperial isn't any more or less arbitrary than SI metric because imperial just changed its definitions to be relative to metric.
I actually prefer imperial for more practical things. 2.5cm is hard to imagine but an inch is not, but for more advanced calculations I'd say that metric is more efficient.
if your bullshit measure values are so good then why nobody in entire world uses them besides USA itself
I never said they were good. I said you are bikeshedding.
i kno you're baiting atm but the reason metric is better is because conversion is easy and simple due to it's base ten system. 12 inches to a foot, 3 feet to a yard, a gorillion yards to a mile, etc are all annoyin to work with in my head.
>2.5cm is hard to imagine, but the inch is not
Lay of the weed, Jonas.
Yeah. Ten base isn't objectively better, but imperial has pretty much every smallish number covered in it's conversions. How many teaspoons you need for a cup? A gallon? A barrel? Who the fuck knows.
>That's funny because temperature is a function of energy, and you make it based on the phase change of water, which itself requires energy
that has nothing to do with anything
and imperial is more arbitrary than metric because metric has units that follow consistent patterns between each other and often relate to each other in straightforward ways, or do you think going from 1/7000 to 1/256 to 1/16 to 1 to 14 to 28 to 112 to 2240 is consistent?
"better" is relative. I don't claim to be the noblemen who came up with the imperial measurement system, but it's clearly intended to be intuitive rather than engineered.
Each measurement is designed to be at the scale an average human can reason about and finds useful, much the way a marathon is the distance an athletic man can run for an extended period of time.
It has a lot to do with it, because water without impurities can hit supercritical temperatures without nucleation points.
You're basically saying "oh you know 'the temperature boiling water'" even though that itself is flexible based on the purity of the water and the storage medium.
>Also how do Europeans even measure their lumber?
With a logical system based on patterns and harmony between its various parts?
he's saying that wood shrinks and grows based on local humidity, and despite that you still need to be able to give your wood a rough estimate to be able to sell it.
In America, we measure at the time of cutting, and then the wood dries and shrinks. Everyone in the trades understands this and isn't confused about it, except for the first time.
>It has a lot to do with it, because water without impurities can hit supercritical temperatures without nucleation points.
so? It's still the boiling point, even if it's not boiling. As little as shaking it will cause a steam explosion. And of course water is dependent on things such as pressure for the boiling point, which is why it's defined as water at sea level. There are no absolute, inarbitrary measures in the universe but metric is a relatively consistent system based on almost fundamental features of the world while imperial is a retarded rollercoaster based on rocks and variant anatomical features.
>at sea level
and there it is
arbitrariness
you're lucky that pressure at sea level is approximately equal to "0.1 megapascal" else who knows how this system would have turned out :^)
But jokes aside, if you don't see the value of an intuitionistic viewpoint as opposed to an autistic engineered viewpoint, you may have a bias in thinking that everyone around you needs +/- 0.0001 "unit" accuracy when everyone will do just fine putting in a teaspoon of this or that, tasting the soup, and adjusting it because their seasonings lost some flavor.
>arbitrariness
yes taking a substance at it's natural resting point on earth how arbitrary
there is nothing intuitive about your fucking rollercoaster you obese retard
you have a hundred fucking units where metric has ONE prefaced by PREFIXES
there is a reason why only your donkeyheaded obese faggot country along with LIBERIA AND MYANMAR uses imperial, and even then all science is done in metric because the american scientific community is intelligent enough to know that the entire planet would laugh at them for attempting to measure atomic mass in fucking drachms or whatever
and guess what, in metricland we cook with deciliters, grams, or tea/tablespoons and it works fine without having to throw 3 fathoms of grandpas bellend and half a cubit of small intestines worth of HFCS into the soup
fucking americans
>a substance at it's natural resting point on earth
only that sea level changes based on the position of the moon, which is constantly orbiting so that sea level measurements have peaks and troughs at a monthly cycle
you seem pretty mad
maybe you should go out and take a one mile long jog, and then cool down for a bit by taking one nap
This. Basert svensk jævel.
Metric is only harmonic in base 10, a design element originating entirely from human culture. Can you name a single natural phenomenon that is better described by decimal rather than, say, binary?
Metric does not follow a more "natural" sequence. It simply better adheres to the notations which you are more used to.
Seething systemlet.
>the foot is defined by the metre
Metric is a million times better than your donkeyfuck "system." Yes, it was invented by humans. You know why? Because other organisms don't do measurements in the way that we do. Your "system" was also made by humans, but it doesn't follow a stable pattern. Human brains are good at finding patterns, and everything about your "system" contradicts this natural ability/skill.
but everyone uses base 10 you retarded animal, even your stable of a nation
>70 threads about how the US is a 56% fat mutt like whatever other buzzwords shithole an hour
You keep telling yourself that OP
you read all of my other posts and you think I don't know that?
