yikes............

Of fucking course it's the British flag being salty over decolonization.
>France
>French
There is a difference between a colorful banner and a population
I stand with the various people of the world against the american and chinese menace
>You will never EVER life in a world where France and Spain unite under the same King as equals
>The British secretly negotiated peace terms directly with France leading to the signing of the Preliminary Articles of London on 8 October 1711.[n] These included French acceptance of the Act of Settlement and a guarantee that the French and Spanish crowns would remain separate, while France undertook to ensure Spain ceded Gibraltar and Menorca and award the Asiento to Britain for 30 years
FUCK you Britain, you ruined it all...
Old worlders fantasizing about being powerful again will never not be funny
almost as funny as new worlders dickriding off american hegemony
what happened to frances military from 1880-1945
Bonsoir, roturiers.
Canadians can ride my dick any time ;)
France's military was one of the best in the world in WW2, probably as good as britain, but since they weren't an island they were much easier to capture.
Reminder that mussolini's incompetent troops got completelly BTFO by french troops
fuck off lindybeige
we get your gibs AND people like us better. stay mad.
never would have worked anyway
Huh? I heard they were horribly outdated gear and generals who still thought the next war would be a trench fuck again. in ww1 you hear all the time of french mutinies. this is the same country that had napoleon a hundred years earlier wtf happened
hey thanks for spending your tax money on upholding the global liberal free trade order so we all get rich shame about your social services aye.
they will unite under the soon to be afro-islamic caliphate of western europe
Have sex.
Based
And then what? Import niggers en masse anyways? Or build up the nuclear stockpile then wipe out all the niggers and muslims and take it all yourself.
Yeah they mutinied because the French military doctrine in ww1 was a constant offensive because last time they lost to prussia because they were to defensive. and they circle jerked about the will to win overcomign germany, who had 50% more people and double the industry.
And even by ww2 it hadn't physiologically recovered from it. They lost basically every single 18-20 year old in the first few months of the war. They lost more soldiers in ww1 than America has in all its wars combined.
If you talk shit about the poilus again i will end you.
Until 1940, France was the military power of the West. Largest army & shit. The Brits and the US saw France as the warden of the Versailles treaty, the chief peacekeeper. But as you said, the French État-Major didnt keep up with the technology, didnt bother for tanks and didnt expect plan Schlieffen 2.0. Failure followed.
As for the mutinies, its less than thought. None or very few happened at Verdun for example, one of the longest and most demoralizing battle fought in WW1 for the French.
Well, there was the time yall tried to invade Britain during the Revolutionary war. Had yall pulled it off, your fleets probably would have succeeded and then paved a way for a Catholic conquest of England, leaving America as a bastion of decency and Protestantism.
>horribly outdated gear
Wrong
>generals who still thought the next war would be a trench fuck again
Wrong
>didnt bother for tanks and didnt expect plan Schlieffen 2.0
Wrong
so you expected all that and still lost?
fr*nce btfo
why wouldn't it
theres a reason england plotted against it, they knew it would be problematic to have spain and france united instead of the typical triangle of hate between the 3 nations
>horribly outdated gear
like what? i only know about their aircraft desu
barely any aircraft had radio equipment, but the aircraft themselves weren't half bad, and in the lesser known Battle of France, they destroyed more german fighters than the brits did in the Battle of Britain.
en.wikipedia.org
>generals who still thought the next war would be a trench fuck again
Well, thats because they decided to put WW1 veterans in charge. The nations that won WW1 tended to do that
Italy also had shitty backwards tactics and their high command thought biplanes were still better than single wing aircraft
Sure, french troops and commanders were a bit worse than the german ones, but they were still decades ahead of Russia and Italy imo
>hungary
lol
I wasn't talking shit just curious
I know mutinies weren't widespread but it's just this perception you get with the french army in ww1 idk maybe I heard it from a couple different places. Also how the generals really wanted to win and would throw men at battle plans just to take barely anything from the germans
Lmao seethe more
Stay out of our hemisphere old world fucking shits
Hungary, more like hungry
Based
Throwing men is what everyone did during WW1
maybe not outdated equipment probably mismanagement and incompetent generals.
Yeah but I mean more than usual. Possibly carelessness over your soldiers well beings led to the mutinies and futility of capturing shit
My heart says cringe...but also based
if you ever get the chance read poilu, its by a french soldier who got conscripted in 1914 and somehow survived all the way through.
But yeah it was super militaristic and nobody really cared if soldiers died and there was a constant game of chicken between the soldiers not doing the retarded orders and getting court marshalled and shot. There was a huge divide between the officers and men so they didn't care about getting 10 men killed to retake house for their own honour. Or doing stuff like ordering the men to patrol somewhere which had germans so that they'd stumble in to them and be forced to fight because the men wouldn't attack otherwise.
Or telling the men the attack was called off until the last second so there was no time to organise resistance against going over the top.
Imagine if they can see what became their homeland nowadays
>incompetent generals
in 1939 any army would've lost against the fully industrialized modernized german army.
its more about the german army being the most powerful at the time than french army commanders being incompetent imo
the supposed "incompetence" of france is just a myth and a huge exxageration
>in 1939 any army would've lost against the fully industrialized modernized german army.
how is that different from a 1942 germany
Nous sommes un pays uni et respecté, un pays où les francophones forgent notre histoire, notre identité et notre avenir à la grandeur de ce magnifique pays ... j'adore la france !
did the british do all of that as well or was it the french really wanting to beat the germans?
>Old worlders fantasizing about being powerful again will never not be funny
??????
Maginot line while belgium full open ???
THEY CAME 3 (THREE) TIMES BY BELGIUM
THREE FUCKING TIMES
Not only generals were incompentent, they were cowards and it's a shame they weren't shot after the war for genuine stupidity.
>almost as funny as new worlders dickriding off american hegemony
by 1942 britain, russia and USA had picked up the pace and produced lots of heavy weapons, tanks, aircraft...
well you might be right, in a single 1v1 war germany would've won against pretty much every country except Russia or USA, just because of the sheer size and numbers of these 2
ara ara uwu
Germans were expected in belgium, that's what the dyle plan was about
Fuck you. Hey Europeans COME TO OUR HEMISPHERE.
Totally worked. Three fails. France should've been dismantled, but german generals were the same cowards.
The french and german armies were comparables in 1940
Lol at the fact you have to fantasise about being led by a different country who you really hate in order to get over the fact that your country ruined Europe and didn't even get any benefit to themselves out of it
Nevermind the fact that when england engineered both world wars, weakening France was seen as a benefit rather than a negative
you simply have no one to blame but yourselves
You talk like a fag and your shit's all retarded
Ad personam attack, are you even human.
self-hating simpleton, i bet you also believe all the dumb stereotypes on hollywood movies about WW2 and all the shit americans say about french cowardy.
>The reason that the Germans conquered France in just six weeks in early 1940 is because, purely on a tactical level, the French simply weren't ready for the radical new style of combat that the Germans were employing. Known as blitzkrieg, this approach saw German units pierce through enemy lines at unparalleled speeds in the hopes of coming back around to encircle the enemy.
>In 2010, the French WWII Military Vital Statistics file, posted on the Memory of Men website, provided an accurate statistic of the number of deaths in the May-June 1940 campaign to 58,829 deaths.
>I have pity for these poor soldiers, abandoned by their leaders and treated afterwards as cowards and incompetents.
german tanks and weaponry were superior, plus their army had a mobility and tactics that literally no one had seen before
No, you're wrong.
>Ad personam attack
German equipment wasn't really superior, their best AFV was a design they'd nicked off the Czechs. Definitely not compared to France.
Most german tanks in 1940 were panzer 2 and 3, basically tin cans.
>Ad personam attack
>Panzer 3
>tin cans
what were the french tanks in 1940? looks like Renault FT-17 just like in WW1. it might have been the best thing back then, but cant compete against late 30's tank technology
AFV? you mean like those troop transport things? doesnt seem relevant to me
>i bet you also believe all the dumb stereotypes on hollywood movies about WW2 and all the shit americans say about french cowardy.
You lose your bet then. I bet you're one of those retards who thought there was good and bad side during the war and millions of europeans died for freedom ?
My first statement is simple : if they had prolongated the maginot line near the belgian border the Blitzkrieg would've been a whole different result on the western front. Not only french and british would've organise more efficiently, the germans probably would have reconsidered such a frontal attack.
I've never said that soldiers were cowards you fucktard, I talked about generals and politicians like Daladier, this fucking piece of shit who knew that war was coming when he came back from Germany and did nothing but political moves : " oh the fouls, if only they knew that war is coming..." Cowardice is the appropriate word.
Their tanks were only better because more of them had radios and the commander could stick his head out to take a look rather than relying on periscopes. And some of them had more than one man in the turret meaning they could think more about the tactical situation rather than just the mechanical operation of the tank.
The French tank industry was better except hamstrung by deliberate bad decisions done for political reasons. US tank design was similar in the later war.
Panzer 3 wasn't bad, it had an actual anti-tank gun and a 3-man turret. Even in early 1941 if more of them had been upgraded to high velocity 50mm they could have done more effectively against the T34.
French tanks varied in quality. If they'd put more thought into how to build and use tanks and weren't hamstrung by politically dictated requirements (chief among them reducing the internal crew of the tank), they'd be easily better than early German designs.
Even with crappy commander's position (no radios, no open hatch, having to do the gun work yourself) they were able to beat German tanks in many circumstances because their armour was so good.
>I bet you're one of those retards who thought there was good and bad side during the war and millions of europeans died for freedom
you lose your bet then
>I've never said that soldiers were cowards you fucktard,
>Not only generals were incompentent, they were cowards and it's a shame they weren't shot after the war for genuine stupidity.
the way you worded it i thought you meant that "not only generals were incompetent, but also the soldiers"
it would've been more correct for you to say "Not only were the generals incompetent, [...]"
S35, H35, R35, B1Bis were flawed but definitely not WW1 tanks
>the way you worded it i thought you meant that "not only generals were incompetent, but also the soldiers"
Seems a bit sketchy though. I agree, the sentence is weird but not one single time I involve the soldiers or the meaning of soldiers. Sorry for being a bit retarded at the first place, shame you followed me blindly (or worse, blatany lies).
i still think your idea of how bad french generals were is exxagerated
could you give me some examples besides maginot line?
The extension of a defensive line is the only thing that mattered. You seem to close your eyes before a huge disappoitment of a historical episode. How fucking dumb it is to put all your budget in the alsatian valley, protected by the Vosges and the logistical hell of the rhine (swamps everywhere ) , and totally miss the belgian problem ? It's the core of the french weakness against the germans through history. 1870 ? They come from belgium. 1914 ? Again, belgian roads are just way to comfortable to avoid them. And here you go for another glorious ride through Belgium in 1940. Seriously, they had it coming, they deserved the debacle one hundred times, it's sad for the privates who died for strategical failure.
Charles Huntziger. Actively refused air coverage when offered (leaving his forces, while mostly undamaged due to aircraft inaccuracy, heavily demoralised; this was because a lot of them were "B" style reserves), and decided to withdraw BEHIND his section of the Maginot. The whole point of it was to delay the Germans, so him doing that in his section just turned into a waste of dosh.
to be fair you got completely fucked over by Belgium because of neutral autism. The plan was to set up on the river but they wouldn't let you in until german had entered when it was too late so there was a huge defencive hole.
That's what I said, cowardice from generals and politicians. Who the fuck cares of belgian tears, you know shit's gonna hit the fan you stack your sandbags as fast as you can.
i see, now i believe your arguments
interesting
>all the spaniards that escaped to france during the spanish civil war
>caught into fascism anyway just a year after spanish civil war ended
bit ironic
Christ, that shit makes them Spaniards look like Arabs/Blacks.
yes, there were thousands of spaniards that escaped to france

A united England and France would be extremely powerful and productive.
