More of a prog-djent guy myself if we're talking metal. Some thrash is good, but I usually need mindless rhythmic chugging since I only listen at gym. Hahahah I have a friend who has the exact same tastes as you. He always sends me recommendations but our tastes in prog are way too far off, as I prefer mellow synth-driven and classical music as opposed to heavy and extreme metal. I do like Animals as Leaders tho; the guitarist in that group is a wonderful musician, and the tone of their music is calm and collected, with a contemporary vibe which absolutely piques my ear.
Weird to think this album sold 200k copies in Germany in 1977, outselling Genesis and Queen in that country. Eloy wasn't really a name outside of their native germany, and this is by far their best album. 4.2/5 on progarchives, it's a concept based on the rise and fall of Atlantis. Only drawback is that it's in English, and the vocalist obviously speaks English as a 2nd or maybe even 3rd language. Musically it's so lush and mellow, really retaining the qualities of water. I can see why this is so revered, especially for a post-75 work of prog, right when the genre was beginning to die out.
If you like Animals as Leaders, check out Mestis. It's a solo project from their rhythm (read: djent) guitarist and pretty easy to digest for people outside of the genre. my friend has recommended me Polyphia before; they're alright. I like Misha Mansoor's demo project Bulb, i just like that ethereal mellow vibe as opposed to more extreme stuff. It's kind of why I've never been able to legitimately get into prog metal despite trying repeatedly. I just find metal to be rough on the ears, and even with classical influences it seems like a pain to me. Another bad thing is a lot of the prog/extreme metal bands sound the same. It just doesn't give me an incentive to wade through back catalogs like i do in 70's prog.

Night Sonoma. I have similar issues with prog-rock. I appreciate its influence immensely, I just have a hard time listening to anything outside of basic-bitch Rush or Genesis. Symphony X or Yngwie Malmsteen might be good routes for you though, the latter pretty much singlehandedly pioneered the neoclassical guitar genre

This is why mass immigration happened in the first place with no one caring, this is why the population started declining. To make things worst we live in a very high-tech society which combined with consumerism means everybody gets a new phone every year, new cars, new household appliances,... This is clearly unsustainable in the long term and will hit hard when the other problems I mentioned are at their peak, a perfect bomb is coming imo, and nobody has the power nor the will to prevent it.
