I was just about to mention that as soon as I entered this thread. My mother had her first child at age 16 I think back in the late 80s.

Can confirm, neither of my parents went to school. It was straight to the fields when they became old enough.

A friend of the family is one of 7 kids. The oldest was born when dad was 17 and mom was 15. The youngest was born 24 years later.

One of the guys in my summer hiking/climbing group is a 68 years old dutch, and he called me a few months ago to tell me that his wife (about 3-4 years younger), just abandoned him for another man.
Why do western europeans do this? She just destroyed a marriage of at least two and a half decades.
