Didn't India used to have a better educational system when the socialists took over? I read somewhere a lot of Indians had degrees back then, that's why lots of jobs from here, in the US, were off shored. India had a surplus of educated inexpensive labor.

It's a decent system. Most people are having problems with the immense competition that we have. Also lack of knowledge about many other fields and mentality that money decides worth of a person in Indian society plays major role in students misery. Most of have to carry a huge burden of expectations from our peers.
