japanese media is dogshit except for porn. I don't want to hear some cunt making mouth noises while taking 5 minutes to describe exactly how they're feeling in response to a mundane situation.
Isn't korean media just ching chong Nickelodeon as well

I liked Train to Busan a lot

Easy
Joint Security Area
Oldboy

>Ok name some decent Japanese movies then
>preferably newer than 1960s

Gaki No Tsukai

Korean cinema is a meme, inb4:
>BUT MUH MEMORIES OF MURDER, HAVEN'T YOU HEARD OF THIS GEM?
Japan still makes better movies, only pleb scum disagree

Tasogare no seibei was the last one i watched it was great

Wanna hear an nuclear hot take? I think NK is unironically beter than SK.

I just don't understand the bollywood-tier infatuation with korea, it's gonna be abandoned in few years like all other jewish experiments with foreign media before deciding it's not worth investing in while japanese stuff has it's dedicated niche for 50+ years

Castaway on the moon
I saw the devil
Miracle in cell number 7
Sympathy for lady vengeance

Are you retarded.

Shin Godzilla is no brainer here

inb4 le rubber dinosaur doesn't count

Vengeance trilogy by Chan Wook Park
Chaser
Handmaiden's tale
>I saw the devil
shit movie

>Handmaiden's tale
Shit movie

Al about Lilly Chou Chou, Eureka, Hana to Arisu

Do you like Okuribito?

The Wailing is really good.

It was fine!

>Lilly Chou Chou
more like all about not being able to make a film interesting for even half of its runtime

I see why you like I saw the devil

I'm a different person, dork

I'm originally this guy

>Oldboy
overrated pile of excrements

Then I have no idea what's causing your retardation.

t. 40 yo boomer

You're the only being retarded here. I can list 10 Japanese directors who are capable of being more interesting than Shunji Iwai

Then list them! I'm being sincere here, always looking for recommendations.

Memories of Murder

Oh boy I've came to the right place.

I Saw The Devil
Mother
The Chaser
New World (I recommend this)
Memories of Murder
Oldboy

The Koreans make great revenge movies.

You should watch The Raid and The Raid 2 if you haven't, they're amazing action movies for their time although they're not Korean movies. I just wanted to suggest them because your flag looks like Indonesia which is the language for the movie.

kankitsuke?

Зaтo тaкиe-тo эмoции, тaкaя-тo кoнцeнтpиpoвaннaя HEHABИCTЬ. Я cмoтpeл кoгдa мнe былo 19, тoгдa мeня этo oчeнь зaцeпилo. Ceйчac мнe тaкoй жaнp нacкyчил oфк.

Only fine, yes.

Do you like Toshiaki Toyoda?

>All about Lily Chou Chou
My nigga, I love that movie for how I personally related with the alienation. The teenagers used internet chat rooms to talk about their emotions and thoughts with like-minded people when they can't really do that in person.

I don't think you get the film dude. That movie was obviously great. I felt a personal connection with the film.

Thank you
I've seen Blue Spring (really enjoyed this) and 9 Souls (fine) from him.

я eгo лeт в 17-19 cмoтpeл и pыгaнyл cмaчнo хoтя в тaкoм вoзpacтe дoлжнa нpaвитьcя вcякaя дpянь типa paмпeйдж, нэчюpaл бopн киллepc и пpoчeй шляпы для инцeлoв

This. It hit the nostalgic teen angsty spots in me. I'd imagine it would have had even bigger impact if I had seen it when I really was a teenager with real teen angst.

>Official Asian Cinema Ranking
Hong Kong > Japan > Taiwan > Korea > Mainland China

I'd argue mainland China's position but these days censorship and big blockbuster aping have hit the mainland cinema bad. There were some GOAT movies from 80's and 90's mainland.

dumbass, China makes the best documentaries on earth

>China makes the best documentaries on earth
Wrong

>Hong Kong
Right, what do you think of Police Story by Jackie Chan and Chunking Express / Fallen Angels by Wong Kar Wai? I personally think Chungking Express is the best love film I've ever seen, at least the second story, great ending. Fallen Angels is also a great film, it contrasts Chungking Express live a negative film, definitely my type of vibe.

Oldboy is based!

Is this a popular opinion: The Japanese make better horror movies than any other country. I've seen Ring, but what really scared me was One Missed Call and Carved, especially the latter.

Spirited Away

The Wind Rises while we're at it

The Raimi Trilogy is kino. Spider-Man 3 could've been improved by focusing more character development on 1 person rather than 3, but it's still good, just not as great as 2 or 1.

>I personally think Chungking Express is the best love film I've ever seen
Have you seen In the Mood for Love also by Wong Kar Wai? It's my favourite romantic film of all time. youtube.com/watch?v=fIgU9aNpb9k

the host, snowpiercer, memories of murder, home, oldboy,

Spiderman 3 IS as great
name three actual objective reasonable flaws in that movie. You literally cant.
>durrhurr but Peter dances stupidly
thats not a legitamete point.

I agree but what does that have to do with the thread

american capekino surpasses an*me and every other eastern trash

The dance actually serves a purpose, although Peter may have felt as confident as ever, he's still a nerdy guy therefore his dance is intentionally awkward.

capeshit is just as bad as anime

Movies. /tv/ is just trash and you can't get any actual discussion there, all they do is sneed post.

Capeshit is actually worse than anime, unless you're talking Nolan trilogy.

I feel you. It's actually kinda annoying when i feel like discussing something i watched or get recommendations and i end up with no platform to do it since the dedicated board is just unbearable

Now? It always did.
One Second for a Feat, Sea of Blood, Salt, etc...

>boo woman with long black hair open mouth and scream
wow this is scary unlike western movie I rate it 10/10 scary

Any good modern Chinese (mainland) directors? I really enjoyed Black Coal, Thin Ice by Diao Yinan.

I've been watching Kingdom lately, the plot is a bit slow and predictable but it's kinda nice overall

Japanese cinema is unironically one of the best in the world, at least historically. Korea has its over the top revenge flicks. There's no comparison honestly.

They make documentaries though: Wang Bing and Xu Xin

Parasite

Attached: 1543996085885.png (1790x1640, 56K)

Oh yeah, I've seen Dead Souls from Wang Bing. Shit's harrowing.

>Bollywood Tier

Fuck off
Retard

Karamay by Xu Xin is probably the documentary that has made me cry the most, chinese filmmakers generally have a hidden talent to understant others' people feelings

I didn’t read once the name Takashi Miike in this thread. You zoomer kids need to check out his work.

I'm more of a Sion Sono and Kore-eda person myself

Attached: chad turn.png (988x1190, 462K)

the truth is there are no good movies
everything has always been shit since the beginning of time

I loathe Japan as a country but at least a lot of anime is unironically decent, I've never seen something Korean that wasn't a low budget soap opera or romcom
