googled it, it's actually in Kvarner just outside Rijeka, which is a dystopian commieblock hell on the Med, so that would explain the pollution. But Rijeka does much better than most of Croatia for income, at least. They're rich Croatian liberals (and I should know, cause I've met several of them here studying various liberal arts courses and deejaying reggae sessions).

Surprisingly, the area near the land had lower radiation than the center of Rijeka. Maybe we could have detected something if we somehow went in the middle of it or radioactive elements have already mostly decayed. Or it wasn't radioactive in the first place.
