Actually "Timor Leste" is closer to meaning "East East".

People here are obsessed with it to an almost tribal level. Even at a highschool level it is very competitive. We would get of class to watch out top team play a rival school. Also the sibling rivalry of former colonies NZ, Aus and South Africa.
I don't really care about it myself but I have been to a game now and then. I took my family to All Blacks vs Australia game, it must have trolled some rugby meatheads to see someone in a hijab supporting our team.
The muslims here who are on social media know a bit because there is a player who is a convert.

For something like this to reasonably happen, the point of departure might be pre-1900s. Different intellectuals would arise, some would stay. Look man, I'm not trying to predict one hundred percent. Again, thought exercise. It's for fun. It looks like most of you indons can't get this

Just read up on what happened to the dozens of monarchs in Indonesia. Some might not be outwardly against the republic, but a lot were really trying to keep as much power as they can from the republic. Sultan Hamid II is an example, he supported the idea of Indonesia, but he wanted to keep the federal government that the dutch instituted.
Sure, maybe, but that's not the point. The point is that this is a thought exercise, just trying to discuss what might've happened. I am not saying in anyway that this is good.

I know but you gotta admit that it's a far left field from the actual reality. The reason why we are so united is because dutch is so bad at managing its colonies

I guess your fellow indons' militancy stems from the fact that, nowadays, the state is the best bet to ensure citizenship in these days of late capitalism. and nothing is more insulting to the state than to quesiton it's geographic authority. go and ask a Spanish person what do they think of catalan separatism, they usually start to foam with anger.

but you are right the state is not a given. also, i look forward for bigger polities than the nation-state.

i don't doubt there are those that believe in this. but you should ask yourselves, did people lie to me about communism? case in point: point to me ONE communist revolution that wasn't actually a national revolution that, when concluded, improved the standing of such nation in the International System.

Nice damage control chinks.

All the mob beatings doesn't count?
Captured criminals get to spend time tied to a tree filled with weaver ants on their dick and in siamese village they go the extra mile by nailing the culprit's ear to the tree.
Taking down organized crime of course requires guns that the public doesn't have.

because islam is a scam

are you perchance an Indonesian from outside of Jawa? Sumatra? Maybe west java (not including Jakarta)?

Jihad may not necessarily mean violent acts. Jihad roughly means "struggle", and IIRC, based on what I read about the concept, even personal struggles (i.e. trying to overcome sins or issues) counts as a "jihad" in Islam.

>far left field
Not really. Indonesian nationalism only started in the early 20th century. Before that Indonesia divided into different countries was much more likely. As I said, what if it just never took off? You don't seem to get this premise.
>The reason why we are so united is because dutch is so bad at managing its colonies
Wrong. That is exactly the reason why Indonesia was feasible. The dutch was quite effective at stomping down local rebellions. By the time Japan arrived, there was barely any strong regional separatist movements happening.
>Divide and conquer? of state puppets? at the end of the day the "conquer" part will result in a unified whole.
Heh...why is it so hard for you to understand this? Historically, Japan divided maritime south east Asia into three military administrations, Sumatra and Malaya, java, and then borneo and the eastern islands. Now do you think it's impossible, if an indonesian nationalist movement was never popular in the first place, for Japan to instead support regional nationalists, especially centered around these divisions?
>need the same book as the one you read, fanfic writer
What? You don't know about the anti feudalism policies in the 50s? They didn't teach you that at school? Did they teach you who designed the national emblem?
Read my posts, nigger. I've already said WHAT IF INDONESIAN NATIONALIST MOVEMENTS NEVER TOOK OFF. Pre 1900 this was very possible. So if we follow this, when Japan arrived, there was never any indonesian nationalist movement in the first place. Scary thought, huh?
>are you implying during national awakening we erased regional identities aand local cultures?
No, but the republicans certainly stripped down the local monarchs alright. And what I was trying to say was that the nationalist movement was much, much younger than the regional identities.

Because you're dismissing what I said. I don't know why, maybe because it hurts your fragile sense of nationalism? I don't know.

Not that scary considering at that times, pra 1900an perlawanan2 yg bersifat lokal seperti pemberontakan petani2, aristrokrat daerah dan pemuka agama di berbagai daerah sering kali terjadi apalgi pemerintah Kolonial Hindia Belanda dengan ironisnya melakukan Pax Nederlandica to unite the archipelago under the banner of Dutch East Indies with the patron of Kingdom of Netherland and subdued local kingdoms who'd still refused Dutch rule, take a look of Dutch invasion of Bali under pretense Sasak muslim oppression by Bali monarchs in Lombok, Jambi uprising or Banjarmasin war and many others, these are also the catalyst of National movement during national awakening in first part of 20th century.
>but the republicans certainly stripped down the local monarchs alright
