I'm mentally challenged but I'm still using Linux. Please don't hate.

why mint?

My laptop is in the service now for keyboard change. It runs Debian stable KDE.

because my brain capacity only allows me either mint or ubuntu and cinnamon > unity.

freebsd >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> lin'x

are you using regular Mint or LMDE?
I was thinking of trying out the latter, plain Debian with the JustWerks(TM) factor of Mint sounds pretty sweet

Clem (mint project admin) is writing of his mental breakdowns on the official blog and forum. It won’t last more than a year.

I prefer kernels where I can send virtual hugs to their devs

just plain old mint.

there is literally nothing wrong with using user friendly distros.

having terribly outdated packages, insecure/unpatched kernels and a hijacked website with tampered ISO downloads is not particularly user friendly

I use Debian on my VPS and raspberry pi, Ubuntu on my laptop, macOS on my MacBook Air(its is for iOS app development) and Pop OS on my desktop.

he's always been a weird motherfucker
like that one time when he said that the project will stop accepting donations from Israelis because of the Palestine situation

>2016, mint 17, problems, not mine
>2019, mint 19, problems mostly fixed
name one linux distro alternative that is better suited for a complete idiot like me then? I need my klickibunti!

I’m trying out Pop OS, it’s been nice until I updated the kernel and everything broke.

Ubuntu and its official flavors

but I do

holy based

is there a general somewhere here for linux idiots with no bully?

/flt/ or /fglt/ thread on Jow Forums

>with no bully
no. go to Jow Forums if you enjoy being dominated by intense cheetoh breath nerds

>two gpus
>billion x billion pixel resolution
>font aliased as shit

>old and shitty pc
Is there a single linuxfag who has decent pc?

that's obviously a bitmap font, it's meant to be point sampled retard

cheers

two gpus for pci passthrough, the cpu doesn't have an igpu
getting a 4k monitor was honestly a mistake and I'm stuck having to upscale the 1080p monitor because of it
bitmap fonts make me somewhat nostalgic but also there's no other fixed width/terminal font that has good unicode coverage, I'm using termite right now (wouldn't recommend) instead of urxvt so it doesn't matter too much but urxvt requires a patch for wide glyphs and fallback fonts always felt like a bit of a hack

using mint rn
should i install lfs to learn more about linux

go for it if you can spare the time
just make sure that you're actually trying to understand what you're doing and not just blazing through the book and copy-pasting commands like you're installing Arch

1. Flag
2. Usually on Opensuse. Haven't used Windows outside of work in years. Switched from Kubuntu 2 years ago.

Opensuse / Tumbleweed / KDE is okay but I'm sure there's better.

2014 Laptop, 17" screen, core i7, 24GB of RAM (i know, useless), graphic card.

Not a gaming thing but lets quite a few VMs run smoothly.

What usage do you make of your PC?
Would you recommend NixOS?

MX Linux

it doesn't get as much use as it should, I've gone off of games so the windows vm only gets booted every few months for the few games that don't run on linux, I bought the ram for cheap knowing I'd be running vms and it's also really nice to have to create large ramdisks but I probably would have stuck with 16gb if it wasn't as cheap as it was, the cpu was also really cheap when I bought it but the extra cores are kind of required for vms and it's nice for doing occasional stuff like batch processing of files, on the gpu side I've wanted to mess about with some meme ai image recognition stuff recently but a lot of the tools are for cuda and the amd side of things is still a little immature so that hurt my enthusiasm a little
it's a little overkill for most of my needs but it's the first time I'm not limited by processing power for when I want to do something dumb and it's a good feeling
>Would you recommend NixOS?
I've only been using it for a few months (although I've used nix the package manager for longer) and I'm a little lazy to do things the proper nixos way but I really like it so far, my hangups on it are that it's a royal pain in the ass for day to day desktop use and also that the documentation is generally not great at all

I've been waiting for Zen2 the whole time, faggot... One month left

Just wait for Zen 3, it will be even better.

i use debian
