Why didnt they just go fishing lmao
Why didnt they just go fishing lmao
What makes the western parts different? They have the highest proportion of Irish speakers
How hard it is to grow potatoes?
>White boy making light of a terrible event in history with a shitpost.
How crass.
Find arable land.
Find tractor.
Find potato sack.
Use medieval torture contraption box to seed potato.
???
Profit.
>bulgaria
>white
the english didn't care about them when it was their own fault
it was potatoe blight so not much could have been done
the english didn't colonise that far west really. also the land there tends to be less fertile so it's always been ignored in terms of infrastructure, it's easier for communities (irish speakers for example) to remain relatively undisturbed for large periods of time
other than stop exporting food to britain?
Many interesting Ireland maps recently

remember when ireland spoke irish?
What the hell
Makes sense, though a difference of 70% is still pretty big desu. How well do the people in those areas know English?
but i said the english didn't care for them so there was no way that could have happened
it was the english's fault it happened because of the high taxes and lots of landlords lived in england so they didn't care either
also there was a guy who tried to help but there was not alot of support but if there was more support it could have made not as devasting but the english buisnessmen couldn't care less
everybody would be fluent in english too i'd say
padraic pearse said he wanted to make irish speak irish
too bad nothing came of it
they blew their chance. i think 10-15% of the populaton was fluent and used it reguarly back in the 40s. now that number is a lot lower.
if they ever reform the education system it will probably end up as similar to dutch or danish people and they're grasp of both languages, in favour of english still though obviously.
best case scenario thouugh, highly unlikely
i would totally be up for a revival of the language
but i doubt it'll happen
This map has no basis in reality
Its fake
we need someone like pearse again desu
>it was the fault of the English that the Irish couldn't figure out how to farm multiple crops
There was plenty of other food the poor couldnt afford to buy. Journalists reported markets full of fresh fish, vegetables and meats but the poor couldn’t afford it
read history, idiot

the next pearse will be a yank that manages to make gaeilge trendy amongst those hip irish-american youth
Habs gemerkt brudi. Trotzdem danke, dass du es mir ausfürlich erklärt hast.
Why potato? It need two kg a day to get fit organism.
most likely
because i don't see ireland ressurecting it, not until the language is fully dead
What part of Ireland are you from? How good is your Irish and how often do you speak it?
Sunflower or peas would suit better.
it's not as dead as you'd expect really. it's kind of halfway between scots gaelic and welsh where a good number speak it, most people have a tiny bit, but most people find it annoying

You don't even need that. You can grow them in IKEA bags that you fill with soil.
i'm the one who made that thread is black hair common among ethnic Russians or is it found mainly in churka regions?
Because veganism is a morally superior choice
fun fact, the potato blight wasn't isolated to ireland or even to britain, it affected all of europe. somehow no one else other than micks had any issue with it, including poor as fuck subsistence farmers in the northwest of the UK, almost like not having the brains to grab a few fish or pick some berries was a mick-only phenomenon
Rivers and lakes? They were all on land owned by absentee landowners who strictly enforced poaching laws.
Coastal Fishing villages did fair better, but there's never been a strong fishing culture in ireland
And the reason it affected so many in Ireland was because when the British confiscated property from the Irish, giving it to absentee British landowners who let it back out to the former owners at crippling rents then it leaves the original dwellers with few options for subsistence. All the food they grew and sold on behalf of the lords of the land went to paying their rents, while they survived on the potato. When the potato crop failed, the obvious reaction of administration would be to change the situation, the actual British reaction was this was just divine providence, not their problem to fix
>force the Irish to give you their grain and make it illegal to help them since if you do that is interfering with the free market
>everyone died
Wtf? Why didn't they just eat grain?
Because if they kept the grain, they would be thrown out of their homes
I was being ironic. Sorry.
Who bought all the food then?
Not a Russian, but there are plenty of phenotypes of ethnic Russians. It's mostly Southern Russians/Ukrainians that tend to be black haired
So that's why there are so many vegans in Ireland
