I'm japanese and have been so curious why korean culture got so famous for last few decades, unlike that of japan which is strictly confined to its narrow mainland. What in the world has made koreans so honored and Japanese so abject?
I'm japanese and have been so curious why korean culture got so famous for last few decades...
You are both American dogs
Americans daughters are now crazy about BTS and they are sons of korea.
>unlike that of japan which is strictly confined to its narrow mainland.
Are you retarded?
we have plenty of domestic market
Which sort of Japanese culture do you think world famous?
I think You forgot to change ip gook
But there are no honor, no pride, but only self-soothing and isolation... Arent there?
you don't need honor, pride, or something to make money. isn't it like that?
Sushi? Karaoke? Samurais? Ninjas? Haikus? Even if they aren't popular, literally any person who lives in outside of isolated jungles know what these are and that they are Japanese.
Not to mention anime and video games.
The only thing popular from Korea is Kpop, and only among a certain subculture group of young women. It's just like the Argentinian telenovela fad from the early 2000's. Give it a decade and Jpop or Cpop will replace it, or something else entirely.
Well i see. thats Japanese perspective.
Onlu money. Kill men and women and children for moneymaking
Their movies are very well known for people that like films. I mean that thriller movie won the Canne for fucks sake.
And before you say ''but muh cars and cellphones!'', that's not culture, and you are merely taking the place Japan held in the market up until the 90's. China is already starting to replace you, and in 30 years India will replace them.
Cannes hardly represents common pop culture.
All the things I listed aren't just popular among hardcore fans of that field. Everyone knows what Sushi is even if they don't the difference between Italian and French food. Everyone knows what Samurai and Ninja are even if they think they fought in WW2. People know what Karaoke is even if they pronounce it Kareeohkee.
What do you mean by Korean culture?
You mean Korean pop culture, which is a literal copy of Japanese pop culture, from pop idol culture and drama, to manga and cartoons?
I mean, nobody knows Korean culture except those variants of Japanese pop culture, and I'd say those are yet another Japanese culture that influenced the world with some Korean twists.
I dont know haiku and according to your logic
Kimchi, pcbang, oppa, esposts, mukbang etc are pretty popular either
And kdrama, k cosmetics are also popular among girls, espectially in asia
Sorry Nobody care jpop in korea now
Jpop copy kpop now
Also taekwondo is popular too
Kimchi is only known to people who like asian food
Esport isn't Korean, most people think Taekwondo is Chinese, and no one who isn't into Korean culture knows what those other three things are.
They can't do marketing.

So they focus on domestic market instead but it is declining. We'll see what will happen in the future.
it was illegal for long time there
it's not what korean people chose to do
At least you know kimchi taekwondo
It is suprising that even israel know that
I know all of those things other than pcbang, but I'm a weeb, so I know Korean shit by proxy. Anyone who would know even one of those Korean things would know all of the Japanese things, but not vice versa.
Never heard of any of that except kimchi. People who like kpop are the most annoying people with the shittiest memes. "Omg chongjongkimbong is like soo cute and pure uwu"
Also, this is anecdotal, but I know a good amount of Kpop fans. Besides the fact that they are all women, they are all either weebs or former weebs.
Maybe Korean popculture might overtake Japanese popculture in the future, but it won't be part of global common culture.
Note that all of the Japanese things I listed were very old, while most of what you listed are new fads.
This is another good point. Kpop is popular for the same reason telenovelas were popular 20 years ago and the beatles were popular 60 years ago: cute boys cause girls to spend money. Korea cracked the cute boy formula by have all of it's population be made of plastic. I trecently had to watch two Korean movies for a uni course and I couldn't tell characters apart even when they stood together. I can tell Japs and Chinks apart, but Koreans are all identical barbie dolls.
