why are you so rich is the better question

>says the country whose only reliable source of income is turism industry that's been drying up lately.
I hope you saved some funds and didn't fuck your cousin by accident. Get fucked snowman.

Communism

ah yes
the "eastern europe is shit" thread
my favorite time of the day

When West was getting richer and richer due to Colonisation, Eastern Euros had to fight Turkics and Mongoloids. Also, compare Western European wars to Eastern European ones, East was always more brutal.

There is also an issue of Western Euros leeching on Roman infrastructure and other goodies, Med creators of civilization left to Western barbarians.

for us it's the 90's war and the dumbass corrupt bosnians that now form the ruling majority

why are u so gay

Obsessed inbred snowman

Why are you on a proxy?

Not even so poor anymore, you are now better off living in Poland than in Greece or Portugal.

Also add to that Shitaly, Spain and France (third world countries with unemployment and riots)

Dehumanization is the first step in genocide preparation. We must unite and perform preemptive strike on the westoids.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshall_Plan

We were denied this, which rebuilt the infrastructure and industry of European countries ruined by WW2. This is the only reason we’re poor today.

based and eastpilled post

wasn't Eastern Europe poor even before it?

stop it with the skyscraper autism already. They don't make you appear rich. There's tons of beautiful cities in eastern europe no one ever mentions, yet as soon as someone even acknowledges polands existence you crawl out of your holes shouting "LOOK, WE HAVE SKYSCRAPERS, WE'RE FIRST WORLD NOW"

Westerners are pretty good desu. As someone born some years after the dissolution of warsaw pact i see myself somewhat as a westerner too.
It's just a shame that our old mindset from the age of communism will take a while to dilute.

Because Russia.

most based post i've seen all week

What said. Building those retarded giant glass dildoes is full on cargo cultism.

Don't know about others, but czechs were pretty well of from what i know. And we had strong industry too, which is one of the reasons why nazis made us into a protectorate.
And even before that we were part of Austrio-Hungarian empire with second most populus and important city.

you are kinda exception as you belonged to HRE/Austria for a very long time, contributor of Blitzkrieg

Finland didn't accept marshal plan and we are doing fine at the moment. Although our cities werent as devastated as eastern euros were.

Finland was babysitted by Sweden and Russia for entirety of your history though.

Russian power is destructive

iirc Finland was a pretty poor agricultural country till the middle of the 20th centuries. famine would often happen when they were "babysat" by swedoids and russhits

Indeed we were one of the poorest provinces of Sweden and only a few Kings put some effort in governing us Like Gustav Vasa

For Latvia it's fucking the system.
We fucked Communist bureaucracy and when we needed to make out own...we just started to fuck that.
Latvia is getting worse in corruption actually.
Only thing I like here is nature, racism and traditional girls

eeew

In the case of Ukraine, this is the destruction of the middle class and national elites (thanks to the communists). The Ukrainian nation today is like a flock of sheep, without shepherds. We have even been elected president, because "he played the role of the president well in his show!".

for what economical/political reason did the Kingdom of Bohemia develop as one of the most industrialized regions

/thread

why is the thread still going after this?

coal in the mountains
austrians decided it should be industrious because it had resources

>It’s episode number 7831 of Czechs being mad over being called Eastern European.

1. Communist of Russia
2. Russia, which created a communist state
3. The Soviet Union
4. Russia

Upvoted.

Well its pretty valid criticism, its like call Finland Souther Europe

what are the mines called?

Being sandwiched on an indefensible flat plain between Germany and Russia does not bode well for nation building.

KILL WESTIE

German influence really helped. I guess being lower income country than Austria even back then while having reasonably educated and technicaly capable populus made us into prime real estate for their numerous industries.
Having loads of iron and coal deposits surely helped not to mention few industrious Czechs that used this booming economy to kickstart companies like Škoda that are still around to this day.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radnice_coal_basin
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upper_Silesian_Coal_Basin

Nah, it’s more like calling Finland Western Europe.

Yuo are of butthurt)))) and ungrateful)))

no its more like calling finland white

actually most of the heavy and mechanincal industry was czech, germens were more into glass and textil

>having reasonably educated
do you think the Praha University played a significant role?
>iron and coal deposits
l see, Austrians were generous enough to let Czechs run their resources on their own it peems
l love you. lemme check it

Countries like Serbia never experienced Russian influence

Nah, this has nothing to do with being called eastern europe, as that label is applicable and correct depending on the context.
We are poorer than west to such a degree that you can reasonably split Europe into west and east this way and our language family is eastbound.
On the other hand when it comes to historical, cultural and religious context, throwing us into the same bag as Russians and Ukranians is fucking ridicolous.

>Upper Silesian Coal Basin
didn't know Silesia is partly in Czech

It's their third main region in the country.

Czechia divides into proper Czechia (Bohemia), Moravia and Silesia.

Czechs are maybe Eastern Europe, but definitely not Western Europe
they're the definition of Central Europe (=best Europe) imo

Attached: Czech_Rep._-_Bohemia,_Moravia_and_Silesia_IV.png (3852x2188, 1.47M)

why do you know about it my friend

btw a lot of citizens of the Czech Republic are against the name of their country (Cesko - Czechia), because it's named after one of the regions of the country so other regions, especially Moravia feel a bit forgotten and undervalued, especially that Moravians established the first Slavic state and first "Czech" empire.

silesia was under the bohemian crown, it has an interesting history

It's possible that Charles University did play a role in it.
Looking at our history, even though we don't have many scientists (compared to our neighbours) we were one of the Europe's cultural centers (atleast Prague was) with numerous poets and writers.
Being such probably gave our school system the resources to educate our populus.
Not to mention guys like Jan Amos Komenský, who is said to be father of modern education: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Amos_Comenius

why wouldn't I know basic facts about a country that neigbors my country?

>An Icelander called me poor

yeah even our coat of arms is 2x bohemia and 1x moravia and silesia

Attached: 1200px-Coat_of_arms_of_the_Czech_Republic.svg.png (1200x1438, 523K)

this

Ready when you are

in the light of heraldry l don't understand why specifically the animal of the clest of (the Kingdom of) Bohemia is a lion while the others are the eagles of Austria or hre or whatever

Germans into glass? huh.
I woud've think that one was predominantly Czech.

lol, what’s ”white”? Don’t tell me you believe in ”races”, what ever that means. My skin is light – probably lighter than yours considering you’re a mix of anglo (swarthy), SE Asian (tan) and aboriginal (dark brown) – and my eyes are light blue. ”Races” have only pseudo-science behind them and that’s why no one but online permavirgin NEETs believes in them.

Attached: finns pre swedish civilisation.png (850x567, 28K)

just call them "Bohemia-Moravia" like the previous example
l only know about the Succession War and the subsequent war
pretty interesting. was HRE involved in the establishment of the universities, or did they do it on their own? l think it was 1378 that the uni of Praha was made, which was the 1st in the Central Europe. great country
you have reason

You clearly never visited Portugal you fucking fag. The only advantage that you have is location.

yeah all these glass factories around Liberec were germans

thats why there were so fucked in 30s because they were exporting almost everything to Germany and they had hyperinflation why czechoslovakia was intervene a lot to keep our currency strong so their whole industry collaapsed overnight

during the economic crash in 30s sudenteland had unemploument close to 35% while it was "only" about 10% in czech areas

how he is wrong? poland today have higher purchasing power than portugal

Well, yeah i think so. Charles University (UK) was established by Czech King and HR Emperor called Charles the Great.
He is pretty big deal for our history as he was our only emperor.
There are some interesting things about this guy like his love of numerology. iirc both UK and Charle's bridge (one of our most popular tourist destination btw) had numerology sprinkled into them including their dates of construction.

I do agree Portugal has better infrastructure and urban planning than Poland as it was much richer than us for decades when we struggled to survive in communism but nowadays it's changing fast

and you have better climate than us, that's as important advantage as location

for instance, here we can't build anything in December-February because it's too cold so it's basically a dead season, our economy loses at least 3 months in a year solely due to climate

>Fake Macedonia

>He is pretty big deal for our history as he was our only emperor.
the Golden BVLL dude right? l didn't know he was Czech.
>Charle's bridge (one of our most popular tourist destination btw)
i know bro, but l didn't know it was named after him, as in Japan he's usually called Karl iv while the bridge is called Charles Big Bridge
>numerology sprinkled into them including their dates of construction.
it's pretty Orient-ish. it's so huge innit

Shame we can't re-add Slovakia and Carpathian-Ruthenia to that coat of arms again. The would definitely end the disputes.

>here we can't build anything in December-February because it's too cold so it's basically a dead season, our economy loses at least 3 months in a year solely due to climate

Attached: 1543854399198.jpg (600x400, 54K)

Being in western Europe on the center of internatuonal trade is a geographic advantage by itself. You've wasted it.

Charles bridge construction started at 1357 9.7 5pm and 31 min

how's it considered to be special in terms of numerology?

the numbers go up and down by 2

btw, why people think Poland has good location? The EU trades very little with Russia, especially nowadays, under sanctions, so we're actually in the same situation like Portugal is, they're on the western edge, we're on the eastern one. The eastern border of Poland is almost like an ocean, there's little traffic there, especially the border with Belarus, as the border with Ukraine as busier due to immigrants travelling between the countries, but it's not as relevant for trade, because Ukraine is very poor

But being on the eastern edge also means your country is wiped off the earth every 50 years.

wow

''Charles IVV , born Wenceslaus, was the first King of Bohemia to become Holy Roman Emperor. He was a member of the House of Luxembourg from his father's side and the Czech House of Přemyslid from his mother's side; he emphasized the latter due to his lifelong affinity for the Czech side of his inheritance, and also because his direct ancestors in the Přemyslid line included two saints''

Out boi

germany

hm so he was kinda like Chopin. all l know about him is the Golden Bull of 1356 and the bridge, which was just added to my brain.

so what? A lot of countries border Germany? And actually Poland borders the poorest part of Germany, while their economic powerhouse is in the south, even Serbia is closer to Munich than Poland.

Only here Poland has a border with Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Germany, as well as access to the world ocean.

based
i'm in

>with Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia, the Czech Republic

all of them are rather poor, not much added value from such neighbors, actually there's been always more bad than good things coming from them to us, especially from Russia

>Germany

explained in >as well as access to the world ocean.

Lol, we were talking about Portugal, do you imply we have a better access to the ocean than them?

50 years of commie mismanaged economy and then had to start over and compete with an already modern industrialized and advanced economies

Things are gradually getting better

Attached: 2vubunyaha531.png (779x793, 67K)

also he founded charles university and built big city walls and Karlstejn

Attached: 43.jpg (1024x768, 326K)

>Karlštejn Castle (Czech: hrad Karlštejn; German: Burg Karlstein) is a large Gothic castle founded 1348 CE by Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor-elect and King of Bohemia. The castle served as a place for safekeeping the Imperial Regalia as well as the Bohemian/Czech crown jewels, holy relics, and other royal treasures. Located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southwest of Prague above the village of the same name, it is one of the most famous and most frequently visited castles in the Czech Republic.

eh l should've gone there

Attached: Burg_Karlstein_-_Karlštejn_-_panoramio.jpg (1280x960, 244K)

Yes, because you can easily trade with the countries of the former Hansa, as well as with other parts of the world. You are not bound by Bosphorus / Gibraltar.
