This. The new surge of "transgender" people is actually just the surge or autogynephilia. You don't just suddently decide that you wanna be a girl when you're in puberty or even way after. That shit happens way before that. If someone is 20 or even older and begins transitioning they just have a fetish for it.
1. Attention, especially since people don't wanna be mean so if they ask "am I cute? owo" people will be like "yes of course!" cause they want to support transgender people, but sadly they don't know that they only get taken advantage of by someone with a weird fetish.
2. Fetishistic MtFs obviously want to seem as feminine as possible since pointing out the loss of their masculinity is their fetish. They get off to the thought that there is nothing masculine about them anymore so they put a lot of emphasis on it.
3. Normal trans people usually hate making a deal out of it. They don't want to be labeled TRANS, they just want to be the gender they desire to be and don't want to let people know their biological gender (especially since those people are actually acting like the gender they wanna be, unlike autogynephiliacs who usually just look like crossdressers and can't move like a woman does).
So in other words, it's probably not like 80% more but a bit less than that. But they love pointing at themselves going all "LOOK AT ME I'm trans hehe tell me what a cute girl I am :3" while the "normal" trans people don't like to put their transsexuality in the spotlight, so it feels like there is way more of the former kind of "trans woman".
