Ever shagged a lass but smoked a cigarette whilst shagging her?
I love trains!
Your entire argument is circular.
>Wealth doesn't determine class
>Because Wayne Rooney is wealthy
>And Wayne Rooney *isn't* upper class
>Therefore wealth doesn't determine class
Do you not see how this is circular? You assume your own conclusion. If Rooney is upper class (and he is because he's worth over 50million easy), then your argument stops working.
>Ever shagged a lass
no
>but smoked a cigarette
no
>whilst shagging her?
no
Same
you're just opening up a whole other kettle of worms now because I can assure you land was not the only wealth prior to the industrial revolution. how do you think jews got so rich when they weren't usually allowed to own land?
Regardless. No one has argued that in most turbulent times that the power structure was more dynamic however this is not the matter under discussion. The question is what is upper class in the uk. The upper class in the UK has been defined since conception and continues to be defined by the aristocracy. You cannot enter the aristocracy purely by virtue of your wealth - nor does a decreease in wealth necessitate your leaving of it. I really don't know why this is so hard to understand. No matter what you personally do you will never be king.
I'm financially lower middle class but socially working class
simple as
Not much need for that third 'no', lad. Can't of shagged a lass whilst on smoko if you've never shagged a lass at all. That's just what I think, anyway.
I'm on smoko myself, as it happens. Over soon, though. It'll all be over soon.
fucking hell
arguments die with the thread
get over it
Had a fag after I've smoked a lass but not when I've been shagging her 2bh
pot calling the kettle black.
I have illustrated something that money can't buy - heritary titles - to dispell your illusion of class and wealth in direct correlation. You are welcome to try and contest this but you have yet to do so.
don't care
Love a good train
Bigger fan of British and Australian steam but respect US locomotives if for no other reason how fucking big they are
rorkes blown his gasket
Was going to say something about committing high treason and usurping the Queen but I daren't even write such a thing for the sake of argument

I like trains
*gnaws shoulder*
>Can't of
can't have you mean
He genuinely believes that upper class are purely people who are sons and daughters of barons and dukes, and speaking in RP English. In his world, if you are a scouser born in the gutter and went on to earn $500 billion in a Bezos style rags to riches, you're still low class.
He's one of these mongos that think class is determined by attitude and accent and where you'e born
Financially working class, socially middle class, spiritually aristocratic
good post
reminder that chinky doug will genuinely claim that nothing happened at tiananmen square in 1989
gaming is a mental illness
>how do you get Jews got rich
They didn't. Not until the industrial revolution and the move away from Feudalism.
And all you're doing is dodging the question regarding SOURCE of class. Landowners were the upper class by virtue of the fact that they....OWNED LAND. Why was owning land significant? Because it was the source of wealth.
reckon after queeny dies we should get rid of the monarchy
ahh yes I have no argument so I construct nonsense strawmen, you sure showed him dave
Can we discuss metropolitan buses here
FOY
have gone the proverbial cold turkey vis-a-vis lung candy. now, it's not going well. i am now vaping and smoking, but as jean-paul sarte responded when asked _what's the most important things in life?_
"everything, living, smoking"
Going to play some Men of War soon.
no way
crack and heroin lads
Thats right
Can't have me meaning what, lad?
You're the only person saying that that person would be low or working class. Poor people can become middle class and they can become bourgeois, but they can't become upper class. It's a simple concept, lad.
i don't know where you're getting this idea that its an american concept to define class as wealth. Our class system since the 19th century hasn't been what you're describing it
i've already told you who the source of class is. the authority. obviously the powers of the aristocracy have been weened away in this country over the past several hundred years however that does not now make the cabinet upper class even though they are the decision makers.
and jews were rich well before the industrial revolution come off lad such bad history just exposes you. you don't even need to know history to know this what do you think shakespere's the merchant of venice is about?
>money can't buy - heritary titles -
Why are hereditary titles the only determinant of class? And money could buy hereditary titles if Harold Macmillan didn't change the law.
Dave really going off on one. Can someone call his mum please?
*taps foot to 'folsom prison blues' as i choof yet another gasper*
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-*exhales*
upper class is not purely inherited titles.
Got my gf application turned down again
fucked everythang up
He's right then? Bezos class isn't the same as someone born into wealth but his kids might be if he makes the right moves now. One generation wealth can never be the same as 3-5+ generations of it
you said this in the last thread and nobody found it funny. Not even dave, you're just not funny hans.
just my opinion (also happens to be the best position but thats a coincidence)
Actually, it is. Closing Clover now
you know what they say, third time's the charm
Dave didn't find that very funny.
pollenberg knocking me for six this year ladolas
Gf toil after regular toil. She's an hour's drive from where I live too.
sorry if i may just interject here and say that: “If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we’d all have a merry Christmas.”
they aren't the only determinant of class but the aristocracy is what the upper class is in this country and has been for hundreds and hundreds of years. it is part of yankism ideology that it is purely your wealth that determines your status within the social sphere. why do you think they are so big on republics?
if you went to eton you are upper class
en.wikipedia.org
>The upper class in modern societies is the social class composed of people who hold the highest social status, usually are the wealthiest members of society, and wield the greatest political power.[1] According to this view, the upper class is generally distinguished by immense wealth which is passed on from generation to generation.[2] Prior to the 20th century, the emphasis was on aristocracy, which emphasized generations of inherited noble status, not just recent wealth. [3]
oh look, dave is wrong again
good song isnt it
>Can't have me meaning what, lad?
okay look what i'm saying is in your post you said "can't of" which quite frankly is grammatically incorrect so i just politely corrected you, because "can't have" is the grammatically correct way of going about saying what you were trying to say. so don't try and get all smart and rude with me okay?
Glad I don't got hayfever
really lampooned him with that idiom hey
>As Iraq picks up the pieces after the defeat of the Islamic State group, this film reveals the mental health crisis currently gripping a country that has just one psychiatric hospital for a population of 38 million.
just going to say lads i doubt bezos spends much time contemplating his own social class
yet here you all are
That being said, Bezos was already well off before Amazon. He was a Princeton grad you retarded faggots, he worked at wall street firms before he founded Amazon. He was already doing well and had money in the bank, but his parents loaned him money to start Amazon as well, about 250,000 I believe. Is Puff Daddy the same class as Jacob Rothschild? Obviously not you runtskull swine
I ain't got noooo cigarettttttessss
went to eton on a scholarship from me sheep farm in the yorkshire dales. the first day me turned up me was upper class
>parents senior teacher and mid-level executive for a major company

en.wikipedia.org
>The British "upper-class" is statistically very small and consists of the peerage, gentry and hereditary landowners, among others. Those in possession of a hereditary peerage (but not a life peerage; for example, a dukedom, a marquessate, an earldom, a viscounty, or a barony/Scottish lord of parliament) are typically members of the upper class.
