Do Japs not realize that medieval europe was infact a very dark and shitty time period in European history and not very happy go lucky slice of life one like they show in most medieval anime or isekai anime?

Well she got gangraped

its just like my isekai!
War on continent DOES NOT MEAN war on every country!

Still better than today Algeria.

>Decameron, a book settled during black plague
>A bunch of women and tre men having fun telling each other funny, gritty, grotessque, romantic, hot stories and jerking around

yeah life was still shit for the average peasent with all the plagues, wars and famine and the inquisitions were another matter entirely

>he doesn't know about Beserk
>he doesn't know about Goblin Slayer
kek

still the life was much better than modern Algeria

Algeria has penicillin also southern europe wasn't that bad

actually I did, one of the few anime set in olden Europe that were more realistic. Berserk was a bit too much though.

>plagues
Europe had no more if not less plague outbursts than many other regions, especially the levant.

>wars
Oh yeah a unique european phenomenon

>famine
Same

>inquisitions
lmao, if you take all of the Inquisition's death sentences you barely get over 30k deaths, and that's over 6 centuries

Yeah, I mean if you are going to judge anime like this you are going to have to judge pretty much any fantasy setting in the same manner.

yeah the berserk inquisition shit was probably the most unrealistic part of berserk with the mass torture dungeons

Seven apples on the witch's tree

>japs are ignorant
Wow Sherlock good job solving that mystery

it wasnt all bad. war and disease wasnt constant. people didnt actually work all that much compared to today. there were countless church holdidays and for a lot of the year farmwork was limited anyway. during harvest season people sometimes worked up to 16 hours, but thats only a short time.

people were poor but for the most part happy.
there were many wars but only a few of them were widespread and really devastating.
being a traveling merchant in the hre would have been fairly comfy if you stay along safer land trade routes or travel by sea.

whats especially retarded is the notion that everyone wore colourless brown rags and lived in a leaking shed.

This is all true but shit could get real bad real fast if you were unlucky. Most people didn't starve to death but every year plenty of unlucky towns would. All it takes is one bad harvest.

There were some genuinely god-awful destitute regions too. Much of Russia lived off black bread and potatoes well into the 19th century, and in Japan even a simple staple food like rice was considered a luxury for the Bushi throughout much of it's history.

>All it takes is one bad harvest.

thats why I said being a traveling merchant is comfy. just go somewhere else. while traveling you also avoid the smell of the cities. being a merchant with the hansa would be comfy as fuck.
also I dont think every year many towns would.
towns can import grain. a local bad harvest doesnt fuck them up that much the only real problem is if a harvest is bad the whole region might have a bad harvest due to weather etc. then it becomes a problem. but thats not every year.

and also:

>Much of Russia lived off black bread and potatoes well into the 19th century

there is literally nothing wrong with black bread and potatoes as the basis of a diet as long as you have enough to eat. that russia often had famines is another matter entirely but I take offense at the notion of black bread and potatoes being inferior food.

>why is this teenage light novel literature so unrealistic
We have a brainiac here.

The last three

and most of those

aren't even medieval. Almost as if the "Dark Ages" were invented by the "Age of Enlightenment" to make themselves look better or something.

This. The irony isn't that the Japanese are ignorant, but that they are more likely to romanticize the past of Europe than Europeans. From the Japanese perspective it's
>Look at this quaint, exotic shit! Isn't it cool?
It's the same exotic fetishism the West applies to samurai and ninjas. Meanwhile the Japanese also treat their own history with a large degree of reverence in their own media. The Western view on its own history, however tends to be varying degrees of
>Look how shit it was! Aren't you glad we live in more tolerant and enlightened times? Also look at this fish-out-of-water protagonist with CURRENT YEAR morals who's completely misunderstood by his backwards contemporaries!

I think the best example of this is the Charge of the Light Brigade movies. There were two one from the 19th century and another relatively recent one. The 19th century one is complete fanfiction where the Charge succeeds, the hero of the story beats the shit out of the Russians, then goes to India, beats the shit out of some Indians and fucks some brown pussy. The British loved it. Then there's the more recent version which tells a more accurate tale of the disastrous charge (a French officer commented "It is glorious... but it is not warfare") emphasizing how it happened due to miscommunication between out of touch noble officers and commoner grunts, yet nobody bothered watching it. Because there's zero appeal in British history to the British movie going audience (unless it's a movie about America's independence and the British have a reason to stroke their persecution complex boner).

Kek when?

wait what?
