I've been hearing that for the last 15 years. The Chinese simply don't have any cultural presence in Europe or the United States. How many Chinese movies have you seen? Or Chinese tv series? Or Chines music?
It's an absolutely useless language unless you work face to face with some Chinese businessmen and are trying to impress them (if that would even work).
