Look at the housing crisis in 2008. That was such a splinter/minor fragment, and completely hindered the global infrastructure. This is why you have espionage and transfer of state secrets to China via outlets like Hilary Clinton and other corrupt people with power. Everything needs to be stolen for China to be successful, since they can't invent/create on their own, nor risk setting off the dead man's switch, and this operation to steal everything has been going on since the cold war.
