Literally all arbitrary memes. CA still has a high median income, high HDI, healthcare, best university system, higher life expectancy, lower obesity rates, and a below average homicide rate. The only real problem is property prices because the state is too full and greedy boomers don't want to build more. All of CA problems come from the housing crisis boomers created because they live too long and don't want to share with even their own kids. Also nice weather lets homeless people survive over winter so many get shipped over here.
