They moved back to Russia. If you look at the population of Russian Federation, you'd notice it hasn't dropped that much relative to some other post-commie states, despite the massive natural decline in the 90s-00s, it was offset by all the immigration.
There were several reasons, not just Russia being better off. But because it stopped being one country and you only getting citizenship of the country you happened to live. Also natives being quite hostile to them, literally threatening with violence if they don't leave. For example, my father and his family lived in Georgia, and were forced to leave, too. And they are not even Russians. They lived there since tsarist times, they are doukhobors, religious group persecuted by the government and deported to mountains of Caucasus. But Georgians didn't care, now they were in charge and they wanted Georgia only for Georgians. And it's not even violence targeted at them, overall Caucasus and Central Asia(at least southern countries) became unstable - civil wars, terrorists.
And of course, as already mentioned, fertility rates of Muslims is off the chart, even in Russia itself.
