I'm not very fond of the Japanese flag, but I absolutely love the fact that your prefecture flags are standardized, in pretty flat minimalistic flags.

I prefer the Imperial Brazil flag. The modern one is too 70's logo. I think a middle balance could be achieved, though. The colours are pretty distinctive.

I also prefer the Portuguese monarchy flag for its aesthetics only as well.
