People on somethingawful were making comedy gifs of 9/11 the day it happened. Someone on the first or second page of the thread said "WATCH BUSH START A FUCKING WAR"

Everyone today acts like it was the most frightening harrowing day ever, but that's bullshit. I was 14 and in high school when it happened and we spent the day watching the news feed. Teenagers just acted like teenagers, nearly all the chatter in the halls were about the attacks like something finally exciting was happening. There was whooping from dudes stoked that we were going to war.

I didn't care, I spent class reading a copy of Electronic Gaming Monthly that I brought from home. When I got home mom immediately hugged me. Still didn't care, wanted to go to my room and play Gamecube

I lived in NJ, so I visited NYC multiple times by the time I was 14. I had visited the WTC the previous year on a class trip

The twin towers were more recognizable to me than the empire state building, I didn't know they were officially called the "World Trade Center" until 9/11
