Didn't the ancient Assyrians pride themselves on their brutal conquests and create countless reliefs of the horrible destruction they inflicted upon the sacked cities, subjugated peoples and looted treasures? Aren't some of these reliefs, which show flayings, impalements and beheadings of people, still in the British Museum in London?
Kind of ironic that a similar fate befell them.
