In a high trust homogeneous society having lighter sentences (especially for stuff like theft) with more of an emphasis on rehabilitation that system would work great

obviously the swedish judicial system puts its trust in rehabilitation which works for many and some it doesnt work for at all since they have no desire to change.
nonetheless I dont give a fuck if he's gonna be a good boy after he commited murder or raped someone, he should be dealt with accordingly.
