ascend into a higher consciousness
Is it? I always heard PhDs complaining that's not a real job, it finishes and you have no competence other than research, and it's a pain to keep having the scholarship and the money
Pay high taxes to the EU for 40 years and then die.
Here in the U.S., PhDs are a raw deal because it's basically impossible to get tenured; you'll need to spend 10-20 years as an adjunct or associate to even have a chance, where you'll be paid less than a grade school teacher and have no benefits. If your degree is a humanities or a life science and you want to do something relating to it, you're much better off just becoming a high school teacher, long term. If your degree is directly applicable to a 'regular' job, for example economics, mathematics, or engineering, you're much better off just going into the field with your master's degree.
I can't imagine it's any better in Belgium with its lower wages and 18% youth unemployment.
Basically this
Unfortunately
You work until you die.
Be a comfy NEET of course. Thats what I've been doing after by worthless BA
