>Prenderá (salirà?) Both are good, but if you use salirà then it should be "Salirà sul treno" >Ei, per favore non deridere Nintendo, capisci? No mistakes, just a few suggestions In everyday talk, instead of "deridere" you can use the expressions "non prendere in giro" or "non prendere per il culo" (this one is more vulgar) "capisci?" at the end sounds like you're actually trying to make the listener understand something, if you want it to sound like a warning it's better to say "capito?" >, puoi? "come lo sapevi?" or "come facevi a saperlo?" >prima devo finire la mia ben scritta risposta a questo postadore di merda "risposta ben scritta" is a better word order "postatore" >per la mia dose diaria "dose giornaliera" or "dose quotidiana" >L'italiano sul /lang/ è il mio personaggio di Internet preferito. Sup, learning German right now (mostly through lyrics of Rammstein) I've started memorising vocabulary and that's about it so very noob stage. What are some good resources ? I won't quit since I really like the language and have experience learning languages (Russian native, English second and have a good way around phonetics and alphabet of most languages), German seems pretty easy for me now desu... I guess I just haven't encountered any significant barriers while reading newspapers n such

Scots speakers are the most bullied people on Jow Forums. Everywhere we go everyone replies that Scots either doesn't exist or is a dialect of English. And when they admit it exist the replies are always like this; "aye, we go aboot punching you in the heid, mate". Could you please stop this as we are hated minority in our country, where if you speak Scots you are called Scum. It's already bad enough Scots is basically extinct in Scotland so Why do you keep bullying us?

>Ihr seid so versaut, was läuft mich euch?
What is the correct translation of this?
Brandon Fisher
>Your Polish is really good! How long have you been learning? 3 months more or less. To be fair, I'm looking up words in the dictionary a lot for these challenges.
Michael Wright
>Ihr seid so versaut, was läuft mich euch? I think it should be "was läuft mit euch?" cause otherwise it doesn't make sense It means "You [pl.] are so perverted, what is going on with you?" "Versaut" means smutty, lewd, dirty etc. It comes from "Sau" which simply means female pig (sow)

Apparently "я хoчy им пoдoбpaть cлoвa" is a dative case sentence. I would like for someone to break down how this is so, which noun here is supposed to be the indirect object (this sentence matches none of the explanations I can find online) and why I am not putting the dative case ending for "cлoвa"
And just to be clear that I'm kind of serious, I got two different results on two different websites for what "cpeдний ввepх пoкaзывaю жecтaми" was supposed to mean so I've retranslated it as "halfway up I'm showing the gestures". Is this correct?
Jacob Brooks
in case anybody else wants to help, a literation of the first sentence is "i want them (to) give names", with "им" being the dative case "them"
Mason Campbell
You just answered your own question. The pronoun is in the dative case.
Angel Brooks
yeah but HOW?? is it the indirect object or the direct object?
Jaxson Sanchez
Gie laldie.
Austin Gonzalez
Scots looks similar to Dutch.
Also why is /lang/ only me posting about Scots?
Aiden Taylor
Indirect, as is usually the case with the dative case. 'Slova' is the direct object.
>Mary gave them [indirect object, oblique case of 'they', would be called dative if English had cases] a book [direct object, would be accusative if English had cases].
The thing or the person that receives something is usually the indirect object in the dative case, be it a noun or a pronoun. Think of the word 'dative' itself: it comes from the root meaning 'give' like in Russian 'dat''.
>Give to who? To the indirect object. >Give them what? The direct object.
Hope that helped.
Colton Brown
Yes thank you very much, but you see in your own typing you say >give to who? the indirect object But they're not being given anything. Unless they are being given the want by the subject (I or я)? But that doesn't match since they're not being given names, they're expecting names being given from them. I can see how slova would be the direct object but it's just not fitting the dictionary definition of dative case in my head
Joseph Kelly
Are you sure you got the meaning of the sentence correctly? I don't that that means what you think it does. Did you want to say 'I want to give them names'? I am pretty sure that 'I want to give them names' would be 'Ya khochu im dat' imena' or something along those lines. In that case it would be exactly as I said: >Ya ['I', subject] khochu ['wish'] im ['to them', dative case, because they are receiving names in a sense] dat' ['to give'] imena ['names', direct object in the accusative, the thing they are being given].
If you really wanted to say 'I want them to give names [to someone]' then you missed the cases entirely. 'they/them' in that sentence would not be dative at all, yes. In that example 'names' would still be accusative, but 'they' would probably be just nominative. The people or objects they are giving names to would be the indirect object in the dative case.

nobody cares about your autistic obsession with scots stop fucking posting about it
Nolan Hughes
I'm sorry if I confused you but I meant to say that my sentence meant "I want them to give their names", I just didn't include all the words because I was trying to preserve the Russian inflectional/(or was it "synthetic?") syntax in my English rewording
I'm HOPING the sentence I'm trying so hard to decode means what I think it means. I'm inferring from the crap results on both the sites I've got these lyrics from, and what my dictionary/Google Translate tells me
