If you're serious come to Aerodrom for a walk on Jane sandanski boul. No tourist does this cause they're retarded, but it's the best part of Skopje. Climb on capitol mall the last floor and have a coffee there for a good view of one of the busiest places and the most urban part of skopje.

Make sure to spend at least 2-3 hours wandering the place (on jane sandanski boulevard as starting point), you can wander on the sidelines, even the most commieblock area there is safe. Go to 7ca for a burger (4 euros for a double-burger), the best in the city.

Another day, start at the MPC (macedonian orthodox church) in central skopje and walk just in a straight line on Boulevard Partizanska. This will give you a feel for what it's really like in the city, not some barren shithole. Just walk for 1-2 hours on that street, it's very flat and long and busy. It's our own version of the Carigradsko shose.

Another day you could go to Central Park (google skopje tose proeski arena) it's that park, it's our biggest park, trees, kids, young people.

This will show you "real skopje", developed skopje where we actually live.

If you want to do theme park tourist stuff, then go to the macedonia square. If you want to climb mount Vodno for the view, either take a taxi (can be 10 euros both ways) or go to the main bus station and ask for the "Vodno bus", it will take you there for a single fare. The bus goes up to half the mountain, and then you must hike or take a cable car. The cable car is 100 denars (2 euros) both ways.

Most "people" who come here only do the last part, they don't see anything.

It's not a meme. If you hate it you can escape. Taxis from one side of skopje to another 2-3 euros, 5 euros if they want to rip you off, 10 euros if they take you to tetovo. You can trip between all parts when you want.
