thank me for my service
Conscription is a bad thing
Conscription is fine, if it's only 2-3 months of training and like 1 month of doing duties and chores.
If the chores last for more than that, then it just sucks.
In Greece for example, training lasts for 2 months, and for the rest 7 months all you do is watches, patrols and cleaning toilets.
How?
Conscription and mandatory service imply that you are property of the state. It implies you exist to defend your government, that you serve your government when it should be the other way around in every liberal democracy.
>shoot guns
>throw explosives and smoke grenades
>play a guerilla fighter with nv-goggles in a dark winter forest
>get to attend the 2nd biggest party hosted by the state
>a feather in your cap

Good times
Well it's just a more clear example of how we are all government property, conscription or not
>Have fun on a ship
Best times
Conscription is slavery, no way around it.
It works out more for small countries (or scandinavian ones at least) because you have less dumb fucks. I already have to deal with asshats who volunteered to join, I dont want to be around ones that were forced to.
