>565 – St Columba reports seeing a monster in Loch Ness. It was the first reported sighting of the monster.
>1138 – Battle of the Standard: English forces under William of Aumale repel a Scottish army led by King David I of Scotland.
>1485 – The Battle of Bosworth Field, the death of Richard III and the end of the House of Plantagenet. A chronicler describes that a Welshman struck the death-blow with a halberd while Richard's horse was stuck in the marshy ground. It was said that the blows were so violent that the king's helmet was driven into his skull. He was the last English King to die in battle.
